I'd completely sworn off chorus dot fm because of the insanity in the general politics thread, so I totally missed this, but I will absolutely be ordering this as soon as I get paid on Thursday night or Friday morning
Forge of the High Mage was fucking amazing. Second favorite ICE book only behind the masterpiece that is Assail. Definitely the best Path of Ascendancy. It really felt like a Book of the Fallen/Gardens of the Moon 0.5. So many unexpected cameos. Oddly enough I think Dancer and Kellanved are in it about as much as they are in the Book of the Fallen as apposed to Path of Ascendancy , so that does kind of suck because their stuff is the best, but it just makes their scenes all the more epic, and all the other storylines are excellent so gonna read a quick horror novel then back to Garden Knight!
I'm about halfway through a reread of Ordinary Monsters by J.M. Miro because the sequel is coming out soon-ish and I realized that I didn't remember a lot about it aside from the fact that I loved it, but my copy of Splinterleaf & Hollowfrost is expected to arrive by tomorrow night at 10 PM and I'll be diving into that as soon as I finish
yeah I'm finally a real fantasy author! I'm only kind of joking about that haha Thanks for picking one up dude, I hope you like it!
Happy Day of the Dragon to all who celebrate. @GBlades you said you like Phillip C. Quaintrell’s writing yeah?
I've read the first 3 books in Phillips Echoes Saga. First book has a LOT of characters but it really evens out over the course of this. Had the pleasure of meeting Ryan, Michael and Phillip together at WorldCon and chaos ensued but they're great guys with a LOT coming out.
speaking of Cahill The Broken Binding Press signs epic fantasy series from ‘phenomenon’ Ryan Cahill in six-figure deal tl;dr is that Broken Binding's new publishing wing picked up the English language rights to Bound and The Broken and will be releasing the whole series starting next year in new hardcovers with new art. If you have his series in current Hardcover, he will finish the series out with his current publisher with matching art. All around a huge deal for him.
DCC7 ebook and print book in November, audio in February. @Vivatoto I’m jealous you’ll get to read it before me, but I can’t read it any other way than audio at this point.
Reddits top Indie Fantasy poll results for 2034 are up! https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/s/Gxa5ejLQgp
Real, real tempted to buy this a week early... but I've been listening to the series on audiobook and want to wait for that anyway...
Phenomenal. Colin Mace is an excellent narrator and perfect for John Gwynne, which is a big part of why I'm holding out.
I cannot wait for this one. Meeting John at an event in Leeds next week so I'm planning on holding off to have it hand-signed
@Garrett - I just finished reading The Long Walk, sorry it took me two years. It was really really great, perfect for this time of year. Thanks again man: I loved it.
Glad you did! I would love to see a modern take at adapting that book since it’s still wildly relevant.
Just finished A Court of Thorns and Roses.i enjoyed it and I'll read the next book in the series next year sometime. 7.5/10 Onto Will of the Many which I'm hyped for.
on a scale of no spice to extremely spicy how what's the spice level like??????????? kidding aside, is it truly just fairy smut? lol
I've heard it gets spicier later on there was a bit but nothing too crazy in this one. I liked the book and thought the writing was good. I'll probably stick it out to the end if I end up doing book 2 and 3 I have a hard time stopping series midway. If I can get thru the slog of Wheel of Time I can get thru anything.
