Hell yeah another Malazan fan! That book is probably top 3 in the series for me

That climax, the whole last act or so, is one of my all time favorite action scenes. One of my favorite moment of the series for sure.

Yeah it took some convincing to continue after book 1 as I was just super confused haha. But moving forward I slowed down my pace and read some guides and chapter summaries etc and have been really enjoying it. Glad I didn't quit.

I have a few free audiobook downloads I can use. So far I've got The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin and Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir on my wishlist. What non Wheel of Time/Stormlight/Malazan/ASoIaF series does everyone recommend?

I would say either the Shades of Magic trilogy from VE Schwab or her 2 Villains books. That or Chorus of Dragons series from Jenn Lyons if you haven't done that one yet.

The Daevabad Trilogy. It finished recently and it is really good and creative.

Dark Tower on audiobook is a great listen. I read it so i can't speak to the audiobook versions but Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy.

Okay so what should I read first, priory of the orange tree or the ruin of kings?

I'm reading Priory right now as recommended by this thread. Pretty good read so far, and it's standalone if that matters.

I recently finished Priory and it was a damn good read. Haven't read Ruin of Kings so can't really comment.

Ruin of Kings was pretty good. I need to re-read it, though, before I read the second and third (comes out soon).

between depression and 2020, a lot of things aren’t quite sticking to my brain these days.

Just finished my re-read of The Name of the Wind.

What an absolute delight. I’ll run through Wise Man’s Fear and then...I’m not sure.

I’m thinking either A memory called empire, the raven tower, or assassin’s apprentice.

Had a couple audible credits to burn so i bought Wheel of Time #11 and 12. No idea when I'll get to them but i'm determined to finish this stupid series haha (it's not stupid but man the last couple books have been a slog). Since i'm WFH and no longer commuting it's going to take me forever to get through these.

Anyone read Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo?

I really enjoyed it, though it's nothing like her YA stuff.
