I disagree that there were no relationship dynamics or character development, but I don't really feel like having a long drawn out discussion about it, so I'll just say this and run.

Superman way better. Will rewatch Supermans. Will never watch this again.

I personally liked this more than Superman. I think I just really hate James Gunn’s humor and style. Can’t stand Guardians 1 or 2, I do like 3 though. I will probably never watch his Superman again, but would rewatch F4.

Edit: Mr. Terrific and Lex were probably the highlight of Superman for me. I did not care about Superman at all, outside of the scenes with his Earth parents

I can respect and agree with the opinion that the third GOTG is the best one, but man I love them all

I wouldn’t say they are bad movies I just don’t find them funny or re-watchable for me. The humor takes me out every time, unfortunately. I would put Guardians 1 in the first Thor (Thor’s my favorite character)/Ant Man/Far From Home area of my rankings, and Guardians 2 at the top of the Thor 2/Iron Man 2/Ant-Man sequels/Black Panther sequel area.

Not including shows, as I’ve only seen a couple all of the way through.

Not bad movies, just not for me!

  8. I couldn't get over how bad the CG looked in this. It took me out of so many scenes.

The uncanny valley baby and rotoscoping was the worst since Twilight and the Thing just looked really bad in any scene where he had to move, at all.

    I was pretty disappointed.

Yeah the baby was rough. Can't think of any other issues with the CGI, though

Kinda glad I don't have an eye for special effects unless it's glaringly bad, like old DC/TV comic book quality. Like Karolina in Runaways Season 1 bad.

Can't imagine how many films I'd be critiquing if I actually noticed/cared about this stuff. I feel the same way about music. Ignorance is bliss.

  11. I don't notice it as much if I'm engaged in the story and it just washes over me, but if the story/movie isn't pulling me in otherwise it becomes like sore I keep playing with/can't scratch. This was that. The movie itself wasn't grabbing me so every Thing walking down the street scene was extra painful. Like the graphics in the new IT TV show aren't great, but I'm enjoying it enough to not care that much. But this was killing me (and it being made by one of the richest companies on the planet also doesn't help) and pulling me so far out. Made visual jokes (like the beard) not work for me too.

She-Hulk was pretty glaringly bad, too heh

I think either She-Hulk got better as the show went on or my brain just became more accustomed, but the first episodes were rough.

It really doesn't help that every set piece in this movie relies so heavily on stuff that looks like a sci-fi game I played on my N64 in 1999. Why the fuck did they pick that villain when the biggest criticism they've gotten, repeatedly, since Endgame is how bad their CGI looks?

I thought Galactus looked amazing. I truly do not know what the benchmark is anymore.

I genuinely laughed out loud at the part where he was lumbering through New York City.

Yeah honestly I really don’t care about SFX usually looks. And I was invested well enough in this movie but particularly in the climax of this movie even I can admit that baby was laughably terrible. I have no other issues with any other MCU CGI to date though nor Runaways season 1 so what do I know

Given the source material, I wasn’t too disappointed. F4 as a team has never really piqued my interest. I respect them as Marvel’s ‘First Family,’ but I just don’t think they make for a great film. I’m not excusing the quality of the movie, I just didn’t walk out feeling like it missed what I expected.

Having said that, Franklin resurrecting Sue made me roll my eyes. I’m sure it looked good in the script, but I didn’t like the execution.

To end on a high note, Vanessa Kirby carried this big time and Marvel should be excited to have her for the next 10 or so years. I was also pleased with Pascal’s Reed. He embodied the character well, imo

The effects for this didn’t bother me too much because they were in service of an aesthetic vision that I generally liked a lot, instead of bland shit I’ve seen a million times now.

My problem remains that the story was a whole bunch of nothing. Ideas here easily could’ve been fleshed out into a very successful movie, but the foundation the aesthetic was draped over was bizarrely weak.

its just crazy that a decade later that movie flopped so hard people are still talking about it.
