Saw someone bring up that the post credit of Thunderbolts may have been filmed on the same set as the mid credits for this, but with different set decoration.

I promise I'm not judging you or knocking this because I get it, but it's unbelievably funny reading so many comments about how Marvel doesn't commit anything beyond surface level commentary and you just want to have a good time. I love it.

lol no I get it and this was very situational to my mood at the time. It's a good Marvel movie that I enjoy and hope they do more interesting, smaller character-driven stories like it.

I need to rewatch New Avengers. I think I liked this more? Maybe?

Thought this was pretty good. I appreciated its simplicity and focus.

Not a total one to one comp, but it’s crazy how “The Incredibles” took a huge amount of inspiration from the Fantastic Four and either one of those still runs circles around any F4 movie.

Damn, some of you are hard to please haha. I thought it was a top 10 MCU film. The focus on just them (including Franklin), Silver Surfer and Galactus really works in their favour and they all have such great chemistry together. Good story, well acted, fun action. Really good film.

That’s the magic of da movies! This wouldn’t crack my top 20. But I’m glad people are enjoying it.

Too much ranking going on right now. Let's just appreciate that we finally have a good Fantastic Four movie for a moment. I loved the tone of it being so different from any other Marvel movie. To me, it was charming and whimsical without trying too hard. Felt like an old school cartoon. And that's why I'm not going to compare it to Superman or Thunderbolts which are very different films. I think which one I decide to rewatch in the future will just depend on my mood. All three are excellent in their own way.

  10. A Marvel movie that wasn’t too Marvel with a Natasha Lyonne that was not very Natasha Lyonne

I will say that this movie does give me some hope that Marvel has an idea of the story it wants to tell for Doomsday, and that the Russos and Stephen McFeely still have the secret sauce to make it happen.

Do not enjoy this at all. Some of the worst humor of any of the MCU movies. Stinky!

Uhh I don't think there was very much that was supposed to be funny?

    I loved it.

  15. This was generally good. Visually compelling with a focused story and with a tone that's pretty sober for Marvel, like Thunderbolts.

But of all the movies and characters where they could've dialed down the humor an quips, I don't love that they chose this one and Johnny Storm specifically.

I appreciate the change in tone (I even really like Eternals), but here I felt the Johnny and Ben characters were being restrained. It may just be that lot of the jokes weren't too sharp or were delivered poorly too.

  16. So it seems the son of Reed and Sue will be a big part of the puzzle here. Is he a big deal in the comics?

Yeah, he’s essentially a god in the comics.

Johnny and Ben both had several quips that didn’t land at all.

I really liked this. Quiet highlight for me was Kirby's "I know. I know! I KNOW!" before her big speech. Kinda feels like Ben was a victim of things getting cut, and I'm still not totally sold on Pascal's delivery as Reed (though the writing for him was superb), but otherwise it hit pretty much everything I'd want from a Fantastic Four movie. The chase after they first confront Galactus is a top tier MCU sequence

Yeah the “sexy space alien” banter got no chuckles in my theater. Definitely didn’t land. The clobbering time bit also could have been more effective. The movie didn’t need the quips though it would have been just fine without them

yeah the sexy space alien line during that chase was the one I was thinking about the most, just completely fell flat. Mole man was really the only person who got laughs.

I didn’t even catch most of the humor. The film seemed to be more serious in tone and didn’t have the usual quips imo

The only joke that sorta took me out was the car seat scene at the end, and not even because I thought it wasn't funny but because it felt like the first intentionally "comedic" beat
