Please help me understand which CGI shots are " god awful." I thought it all looked really good and nothing that took me out of the movie like Flash did (watched grudgingly and only half paid attention but woof). I think I'm just not a very observant viewer when it comes to that sort of thing.
Vanessa Kirby is leagues better in the M:I films than this. Thought this was okay. Loved the aesthetic, Johnny Storm and Thing. Mr. Fantastic and Sue seemed like pretty nothing, one-note characters. Might be the most melancholy Marvel since Eternals. Needed more Mole Man.
Some of the Johnny flying in the space suit when not fully flamed looked distractingly bad. Floating head stuff. Specifically when he was flying next to Shalla-Bal when she lead them to Galactus.
I'm pretty sure that was just the way the suit was designed. He was fully flamed on there are just vents to have the flames come out of. Not sure what floating head stuff means. That part didn't bother me but if I see it again I'll be on the lookout.
Basically, his head looks real and the rest of his body doesn’t. It’s pretty common with some Stark, War Machine, and Banner in Hulkbuster. So it looks like a head was just plopped on to an effect so it looks like it’s a floating head.
Yeah, when he was flying next to her or when they’re in Times Square at night. Clearly green screened in there. Otherwise, I thought it looked pretty good.
Huge F4 fan and felt pretty underwhelmed by this. Didn’t fall in love with these versions of the characters and thought Johnny and Sue were especially wooden. Pedro handled Reed’s stoicism well and Ben felt pretty accurate to the page if a bit underdeveloped. Interesting to see that people here feel the exact opposite on Sue though. Ultimately was surprised that the movie is lacking in the fun department, certainly less quippy than a lot of marvel fare.
good not great. appreciated the change in pace. not too many sour notes for me, though i do wish johnny was better, agreed. surprised that a lot people i've seen (not necessarily here) prefer this in a walk to thunderbolts, which i liked slightly more. best part was seeing the fire & ash trailer in fake imax
I definitely liked this enough, but it's not in top tier of Marvel films although I did like all of the casting. It flew by, though. In terms of runtime, it has to be one of their shortest ones. Probably because I just watched Ghostbusters, but Galactus gave me strong Marshmallow Man vibes once he arrived in NYC. About the same amount of character development for him, too.
I’d also pick Thunderbolts over this. I don’t see myself coming back to this often. If I do, it’ll be for the aesthetic. Feige mentioned they used some of the Fantastic Four sets for Doomsday, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of that.
Me, hater of all things Superman, liked Superman better. I still liked this though too. But gotta give it to Superman
I wouldn’t say god awful but some of the far away shots of Ben walking in street clothes at night looked a little like claymation. But it also kind of fit with the retro aesthetic so I didn’t really mind it. Only thing that really took me out is when Reed is holding the baby in the climax after the battle. Kinda seemed like the baby was blending into his arm/hand.
I thought this was good. Would put it slightly under Superman. I feel like I liked most everything about it, but it almost felt like we didn’t get enough of any given aspect, if that makes sense.. The second act was by far the standout for me. Thunderbolts is also head and shoulders above the other superhero films this year.
certain shots of ben (when he first talks to natasha lyonne) where he isn’t in an action shot and is mostly just standing alone felt way off. also the first time the car lands and they all hop out felt like the graphics you get at the beginning of a boss fight in final fantasy
This was fine, but it's middle of the pack for an MCU movie. I enjoyed Thunderbolts way more -- that one's a top 5 MCU flick IMO.
This is alright. Probably the best FF movie there has been, but not even the 2nd best superhero movie this year so far. For me I put this below Superman and Thunderbolts, but way above Captain America: Brave New World.
Same here. I really liked it theaters and on re-watch was not interested. Still think it's good and a better direction than Marvel has been headed, but I was looking for a more fun popcorn movie that I didn't have to pay much attention to. Could've just been too soon, but I don't think it will have a lot of re-watch value compared to other entries.
