After 2 episodes all I can say is: Jesus, this is slow. Dunno that I can keep watching

It's a slow burn for sure but after the nightclub I feel it amped up.

Started a Hill House rewatch and didn’t realize that Samantha Sloyan plays Steven’s wife

I'm just glad they killed Perry first. They were annoying as fuck. Definitely couldn't have dealt with them for the majority of the show lol

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

she's in Hush too as the neighbour who says she loves the protagonist's Midnight Mass story. pretty funny in retrospect

just finished it. went out pretty strong, last episode was probably the best one. wish they'd resisted the temptation to just quote The Raven while showing a scene that didn't line up with it properly lmao, but a lot of good stuff. that Lenore scene really got me, just more evidence that he's so much better working with sympathetic characters than everyone else in this show

overall it's his second weakest project for me above Before I Wake. still like a 6/10 though which tells you how consistent he is. ready for him to kill it with The Dark Tower

I dno I loved this but I'm also a huge Edgar Allen Poe fan. I binged it already and will probably watch again at some point. Probably behind Midnight Mass for me.

I really enjoyed this and it made me wanna revisit Poe cause I'm sure I missed a lot of references. It's been a while since I read him. My standouts were Henry Thomas and T'Nia Miller but everyone did well imo

Also didn't realize how much I love the names in Poe's work. Lenore, Tamerlane, Victorine, Annabelle Lee... I need those to have a resurgence in popularity.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

feels like there's a lot of overacting, kinda hard to take some things seriously. Only one episode in, however.

also damn this is way kinkier than other Flanagan shows lol. Fun to watch with family

    Hill > Usher > Mass > Bly > Club

I thought this show, and especially Carla Gugino, was just spectacular.

I also may have had a Poe collection I read a bunch in late elementary/middle school

I feel like Hill House is in a class all it's own. I never rewatched Bly Manor or really felt the need to, and I think I liked Midnight Mass until the end? Idk I didn't rewatch that one either. What I'm trying to say is, Hill House is the best.

This one is like, volumes more shocking that any of them so far lol

Saw the ending of ep2 from a mile away and it still managed to make my skin crawl.

Pretty good stuff so far. As usual Mike Flanagan’s writing comes through obviously in the dialogue, which takes a second to get used to but becomes endearing. I’m still figuring out who all these characters are and why I should care about them, but it’s got a fun tone. Feels like The White Lotus mixed with Succession put through a horror filter
