Just finished episode 2. My only thought is that I hope the Flag Smashers win.

 

i am not a comic reader at all so i do not know how anything goes really for a post-steve rogers captain america, but are we assuming the new captain america dies somehow and Sam decides to then take up the mantle, as a black captain america? the not so subtle racial theme in the last episode makes me think it will motivate him to do so.

 

i’m still not sold on that dude being the boyscout they presented in episode one. part of that is bias of wyatt being a great actor and seeing the roles he’s played in the past and hoping this isn’t just a one note steve ripoff but i smell something nefarious

 

Wyatt is such a damn star, much like with John David Washington he's another case where Hollywood nepotism has really benefitted us all

 

to think he almost wasted his career playing hockey

 

I did not know that. I remember when we watched This is 40 and seeing all the Flyers cameos, I legit thought for a second “wait is this guy on the Flyers?” because he looked like a hockey player lol. But he was the only one I didn’t recognize at the time.

Ive liked him in everything he’s been in. He was great in Overlord

 

Exaxtly, that was pretty telegraphed from the last line in the episode about not crossing him.

show is ok so far, really telegraphing the outcome. Interesting threadline about the nature of the shield, how legacy shapes public perception, us imperialism and nationalism, and how that intersectionality affects Falcons reluctance to take up the shield. If they want to be bold-ish, the Flag Smashers are going to turn out ok and the US is going to be the bad guys.

Both Wandavision and F&tWS deal with interesting concepts, but similar to WV, I expect most of the concepts will be pretty surface level

 

it's still really weird seeing Wyatt without a beard.

 

There are pieces in place that make me think Walker may stick around, albeit not as Captain America anymore.

 

Also think Zemos plan will definitely involve breaking Walker and “turn him to the dark side” to show how CA can be corrupted and destroy peoples “faith” in the mantle/shield

 

I’m definitely under the impression that Walker is headed for some kind of Emil Blonsky situation where he’s seduced and/or craves the strength that the Power Broker could offer him and gets juiced up, turning him into the villainous Super Patriot role and then Sam sees that he really does deserve to have the shield because with great power comes etc.

Dr. Erskine’s super soldier serum worked for Steve because it merely enhances the attributes that are already there, ergo he is a honorable, moral man so those attributes are enhanced as well. With Walker they’ve definitely set up his pride, arrogance, and vanity in that he basks in the fame in a way that Steve hated. I could see that scenario in which he gets his hands on that serum from the Power Broker or Zemo or both or whatever and things go south quickly.

 

Yup and possibly a reluctance from the US gov't to deal with Walker due to the goodwill he creates so they have to F&WS team up with the Flag Smashers who were betrayed by Zemo (possibly) idk just spitballing here

 

Isn't there another group being introduced too? A straight up right wing group?

Just finished the latest episode and it was ok. Someone finally shows up also there’s a huge cameo

 

Of the three episodes so far, that was definitely the most standard MCU like of them. Still a good episode, though. Daniel Bruhl is bloody great too.

 

This was prob my fav episode so far. I am liking the tie-ins of other characters and making it much more ensemble than just the two title characters. And karli is awesome.

 

Yeah this has such a similar vibe to Winter Soldier (obviously). Really enjoying this.

 

What’s the huge cameo?

 

It’s at the end but I’m not saying who it is

 

I just watched it and didn’t recognize them. Obviously know where they are from, but the character?

 

I recognized who it was and what movies they are from. Watch the credits. The person is on the list. I’m not spoiling it for anyone

 

I mean, it’s not that big of a cameo. It was cool, but it’s not like it was Shuri or Okoye or someone prominent.
