I just don’t think he has what it takes for horror.

Got the chance to see a midnight screening last night. It’s not scary, but I don’t really find any exorcism films to be scary. First third of the film is objectively good though.

All of the actors do a fantastic job, I just think the expectation of this being a horror movie is going to disappoint a lot of people.

It’s very well made but the sound is a little wonky, trying a bit too hard to replicate the stings from the first film. Also, probably one of the more dark endings I've seen for a studio horror pic.

Halloween Ends was my favorite of the DGG halloween movies simply because of the audacity that one had.

It sounds like this lacks any ideas at all

One of the teachers that taught DGG and McBride at the NC school of the arts was also one of my professors for film production at WCU a few years ago. That said, I really would like to see DGG succeed in films other than just horror as I feel after Halloween 2018 he hasn’t nailed the landing.

I really wish more filmmakers spoke this way. Too often they are polite or silent about it. Steven Spielberg just let the Jurassic World trilogy happen.

Friedkin is one of the more underrated filmmakers. I saw Sorcerer for the first time not too long ago and I can’t believe that one isn’t talked about more.

Let it happen? He exec produced it! He hired Colin Trevorrow! There's blood on Steve's hands for the Jurassic World movies but he got lots and lots of money

there’s some very bold takes in this…just not sure they will land with a horror audience, this is more of a religious thriller

they literally send a little girl to hell as the resolution

This really wasn’t bad, I’ll echo the statement that the first half ish is actually quite good. But the actual exorcism is just really uninspired and the ending is just baffling writing.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Exorcist 3 is an absolute classic. best jumpscare of all time, best Dourif performance, great writing all across the board

not at all, the demon plays with a character emotions that had an abortion at one point.

The anti abortion thing is internet projection, it’s not really there.

Thing I’m more not on board with that actually happens in this movie is that at the end the little girl in the trailer who screams “I don’t want to go to hell” does in fact end up dying and being dragged down to hell, which just completely misses the mark and point of Blatty’s original source material and does not sit well with me at all. Just gruesome and cruel for cruelty’s sake and a cynical push to try to reel people in for needless sequels.

I actually enjoyed this piece, it felt subversive, not many horror films where they really go there with that

Okay so … I did not hate this and enjoyed a chunk of it. Leslie Odom Jr. and the girls were great. Ellen Burstyn’s hospital monologue was awful and there are a few goofy things, IMO, that bring it down some once she arrives. Better than the last two Halloweens for sure. The hell imagery was gnarly, especially when Katherine gets chosen, which I personally didn’t have an issue with. Also, I did not get an anti-abortion message from this?!?
