The original is still the best horror film ever but I’ll never have hope for a sequel or prequel or whatever else they decide to do to milk this franchise
Very wise. The Dolby showings at my local theater sold out of the Taylor concert film almost immediately
Good idea, my local AMC feels likes the theatres are already not great with soundbleed. A quiet horror film next to a sold out showing with screaming Swifites, no thanks.
Sounds like Ellen Burstyn has a very minor role from the reviews, not much screentime. The cameo at the end I guess ties into the second film, if it happens. Honestly, most possession films are pretty boring so I didn't have high hopes for this. I was kind of hoping DGG would take a complete left turn, similar to how he did with Halloween Ends.
Was supposed to see the original in theaters tonight, but I got COVID. Guess I’ll have to settle for this at the drive-in on Friday.
Just rewatched Exorcist III last night and I’m convinced none of these reviewers ever saw it. All the reviews mention how the sequels were all trash, but the third film was actually quite good. Def more of a psychological thriller than a horror film though.
I guess I just don’t think David Gordon Green when I think of The Exorcist and so the reviews don’t really surprise me. Not that I’d want to tie him to a franchise as I’d prefer to see him continue making his own original stories, but Ari Aster as a modern day filmmaker would seem like a better example of someone who could properly adapt the atmospheric dread hanging around every corner of the original.
Watched the original for the first time in many years last night in preparation for this, though I'm certainly not expecting a lot. I've never found the original film to be particularly scary, but I can absolutely understand why it was to people at the time. It's a great film regardless.
