I agree with this, with the exception that I do understand people's feelings about changes like the Mandarin. With any adaptation, many fans just want to see what they love brought to life, so when it differs, it creates dissonance. What's the point of adapting something if you're going to change it so it's unrecognizable? But I recognize some changes are necessary and while I'd be lying if I wasn't a little disappointed at the time about the Mandarin, I also understood the intent and I also found it deeply funny.
Part of me was still worried the Marvel Studios of it all would clash too much with the Chloé Zhao of it all… which, it obviously still could! But, this trailer did a lot to assure me that this’ll be in the top tier of Marvel Studios’ current potential. Assuming there aren’t egregious missteps in the actual film, it’s gonna be nice to love a Marvel Studios thing again. (If I have to nitpick, I do wish the costumes were better & more Kirby. They’re not distracting, but they could’ve been more. Alas.)
What if every Marvel answer to an online nerd’s dumb “plot hole” question came in the form of a character doing a bad accountability apology. Winter Soldier opens with a Notes app screenshot where Steve explains why he didn’t help Tony during Iron Man 3.
Galactus is the big planet eater from Fantastic Four. Eson is the big guy in the trailer that doesn't eat planets. Twitter is a garbage social media dumpster fire. People on Twitter who do not know who Eson is think he is Galactus because they know who Galactus is but inexplicably not what he looks like. Does that help sum it up?
After some digging, I think the confusion on this stems from the fact that Eson has already appeared in the MCU, in Guardians, and looked like this: The Celestial in the trailer looks like this: He looks to me pretty much the same, and yet I do see all the news articles identifying that as Arishem, so... (shrugs)
You know what, the first time I watched it I thought it was orange (so I thought Eson), but now watching it again I see it’s red (meaning Arishem). Maybe I’m mildly colorblind lol
Apparently there were also Funko Pop leaks that confirm it’s Arishem, I was unaware of that because I don’t look at those leaks
Ohhhhh okay. I don’t look at those either and was wondering why some of these articles were so certain about it (I even admittedly skimmed the IGN article I posted so I missed the part about the Funko Pops - look at me, being part of the problem).
Rumors are that Disney is throwing around pushing this out of 2021. Waiting to see how Shang-Chi does.
also if they don't there are going to be, what, 4 Marvel movies in as many months? Seems excessive even to a massive fanboy like me.
I mean, instead of simply delaying it they could perhaps use some their infinite wealth to try to help educate people so theatres could be fully open again and stuff. They could just keep the movie open to only vaccinated people but that’s probably not gonna be enough for them and who the heck trusts some random movie theatre clerk to validate them lol
Seeing this trailer on the big screen before Shang Chi really pumped up my excitement. It really is going to be a gorgeous looking movie and that’s something that really hit me when not watching it on a smaller screen.
Absolutely agreed. Somewhat surprisingly, my 9 year old daughter was so amped on the Eternals trailer.
It was funny reading this and seeing legitimate confusion and still none of the choices being galactus
