    Kirk McElhearn:

Soon, all that will be left of the iTunes brand is the iTunes Store for music. And people buy much less music [than] in the past, having mostly shifted to streaming. Will the iTunes name finally fade away as music sales dwindle? It’s hard to imagine Apple stopping digital music sales entirely; even if fewer people buy digital music, the market isn’t dead, not by a long shot. Global digital music sales peaked in 2012 at around $4.4 billion, and in 2021 they had dropped to $1.1 billion. That’s a decline of about 75%, but Apple still earns a hefty amount of money from selling digital music.

Ugh. I will always want a physical/digital copy. I will never rely solely on streaming. I want to own it.

I fully agree... Look at how that worked with videos games (PT) and how WB is treating their cartoons.

Plus it's nice to have some entertainment still if the internet goes out (or is dodgy).

To this day I hardly ever stream any music. Home, I use my music library that I have, and I'll use YouTube. I hardly ever use Spotify and I don't even have an Apple Music subscription. I still hook up an iPad with an aux cable in my car to play music. When the day comes and I have a car that can sync up with bluetooth, I'll still use my phone via USB to play music. I will never use cell data to stream music when I drive.

Yeah, that's why whenever I go for headphones, I always make sure that they are wired (or at least have the option to be wired). Not only do you have better sound, but you also don't have to worry about battery life when listening to/watching something.

That’s where I’ll differ. I do have some pretty nice blue tooth headphones. All my good wired headphones still need the dongle! But I like being able to love about with no wire in the way. But yeah, the sound is better with the wired. But these are very close
