I noticed that this excellent cult horror movie (the final cult horror movie?) does not have a thread yet - and also that it has been on streaming for a bit now, finally. Recommended if you like: David Fincher (Prior directed a few making-of features for him and presumably spent a lot of time on his sets), horrible existential dread, deadpan humour and the perpetually haunted face of James Badge Dale. If you haven't seen it yet, do not watch the trailer. It stinks. I also endorse David Prior's gnarly and resourceful episode of Cabinet of Curiosities, "The Autopsy." Apparently he's finally got a new feature out on Netflix sometime this year, based on a short story by Guillermo del Toro.
Love this movie, one of the few horror films from the last decade or so to actually freak me out as opposed to just being a fun time. Did not know Prior had another one cooking, but I'm very excited for it now. The synopsis sounds great: "Flying dark, a plane carrying a team of mercenaries crash-lands on a remote snowy summit. When they come across a maze-like stone fortress, it’s no refuge from the wolves and the freezing winds. It’s more like a trap. What they discover can stop the heart — or worse. As terror takes on a new shape, the real battle for survival begins."
