Numero Group just announced that they've picked up Shroomunion, one of the many bands of Mark Rodgers who passed away 10 years ago today. I had never heard of anything from this guy before moving to the Bay Area, but I'm so glad I eventually did—he brought a certain magic to every band he was in and it's been amazing (and sad) to check out his discography. If you've never listened before, I can highly recommend the Perilisium Cantos EP (Eyad Kaileh mentioned to me recently that, in hindsight, this is the music he's most proud about being a part of—the flute breakdown in Relic/Sick is unreal) and the first ribbon fix album, some saturday this has been. The ribbon fix album in particular is a grower and absolutely UNREAL—seriously, there are some tracks on this record (like Liquorbed, Gunner, South Lake Detour, and Lessening) that are ALL-TIME, ALL-SCENE-ENCOMPASSING favorites for me now. Too real and the dual vocals really make it all come together—Andi Camp, the bassist/other vocalist, is so amazing too!

I saw we never had an Algernon thread on here and feel like now is a good time to start one! Algernon Cadwallader • forum.chorus.fm
Yessss! We love anything Laken has been involved with—always great vocals and thoughtful lyrics—so I was stoked to see this release.
I agree with FOB nit being emo neither is panic or paramore but in my opinion MCR is at least emo adjacent. FOB, Paramore, Panic are too bright for emo, upbeat, optimistic for emo so MCR is emo adjacent in my opinion but the other three so called emo pop bands aren't.
i'd say fall out boy are more emo than my chemical romance but still don't consider any of those bands emo.
