I totally believe anecdotal stories of bands being dicks on the road, but I also recognize that touring is super stressful and people have bad days where they aren't going to present the best version of themselves. (Though, I do think that certain demographics of artists, and certain segments of the scene, are more prone to poor behavior than others) If I had a dollar for every story I've heard regarding a band being shitty to someone they played a show with, and used it as a reason to not listen to said band, I'd have a lot of money and a lot less music to listen to. Of course, if you start to hear the same thing over and over again from different sources, it's a different story. In any case, I'm not trying to invalidate your friend's experience. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.
Inside Voices - Liminal Spaces RYIL: simpler Math Rock riffs, music for rainy days, idk my brain isn’t working well today someone chime in and tell me who this sounds like I really dig the instrumental track, Interjacent
I agree that some bands can be a bummer when they're on tour and stuff. But Spraynard laughed at my friend for burning sage at the venue and singing songs about his native american heritage. My friend was a huge fan of the band (hence why he wanted to open the show) but he left the show feeling so bummed and defeated. He didn't even stay to watch them play.
Yeah - that's pretty fucked up. Actively participating in the intolerance of another's expression of their culture is a lot more severe than just being an asshole. Thanks for sharing the details. For clarification on my previous post: my perception of what constitutes poor behavior is more along the lines of examples like "Oh we interviewed Balance and Composure one time and they were super grumpy during the interview and acted like they didn't want to be there." Etc etc etc
Backseat Vinyl - Stay Away From My Tombstone RIYL: the weird poppy side of diy emo that still maintains the use of guitars
Seriously wonder how yall find some of these artists. My net is wide, but I still can't fathom finding some of these releases.
Extremely bold to release the best song of the year (when you go home I withdrawl) this early in the year
if self-promo is too much or whatever, I can delete this, but it basically seems like the DIY thread instead of strictly speaking emo. anyways, I covered roll to me after mel tweeted this lol. peep it if you want
