Returned to the Holding Patterns (ex-Crash of Rhinos) album from a few years ago and it's still everything I want in an emo album. Actually perfect.
If you know the kinda stuff I usually like, this isn’t it. But it’s not bad, and it's also like 3 minutes so whatever. Riyl I guess the bands that are popular? Like dogleg? Idk
Soul Blind just dropped this EP (FFO: grunge, 90s alt rock, nugaze, Narrow Head or Superheaven type stuff). Not emo but also not really anywhere on chorus for music like this that I know of:
My interest went from piqued to non-existent once I saw Evan was involved, wonder if he told the other members to 'shut up and play nice' if they wanted to work with him
Every band that Evan has ever been in sounds more or less identical. Not interested in another clone. He's so overrated in this scene, in my opinion. One trick pony.
I don't think of any music made by Evan as relevant these days, the latest IIOI and PS releases were not captivating. That being said, this project sounds like Tanner's brainchild. All songs were originally written by him. I do like the single and it's nice to hear Tanner's voice again.
Ok that's good. I haven't checked the single out. If someone else is the main songwriter, maybe it'll be good. The Pets Hounds album and Proper are the only Evan albums I really like. Everything else is pretty much the same but not as good.
I was a fanatic for everything IIOI did up through Standards and I liked snippets from the first two PS albums. Just doesn't do anything for me anymore though.
Evan Weiss's music has always been very hit and miss for me, I really liked Standards and Pets Hounds but pretty much nothing else and the new IIOI and Pet Symm records in particular bored me to tears. I like this Couplet single a lot however, mostly because I can't really detect his influence on it at all.
