I only learned of that Anika Pyle album like two days ago and had already forgotten it was coming out so thanks for the reminder. The Chumped record is an all-timer for me. I’ve been more sporadically into the post-Chumped projects but there’s usually some really great stuff nonetheless. Excited to check this one.
I didn't know it was coming out, just stumbled on it. Seems like it's a sad one (not to be flippant about the subject matter): Wild River is a quiet collection of song and poetry making sense of the sudden death of my father in October of 2019 and of loss in general. We’ve all lost so much this past year - loved ones, jobs, houses, in many ways life as we knew it. By the time the pandemic hit, I was already deep into a grieving process and learned you can’t stubbornly resist a wild, unpredictable, uncontrollable river, no matter how desperately you battle the current. The record includes audio of my father’s mother imparting life lessons to her grandchildren before she died and is a reflection of how the intergenerational inheritance of life perspectives, both helpful and harmful, shapes us. It pays homage to the bond my Dad and I found in practicing positive thinking and radical acceptance for our failures. Essentially, Wild River is about learning to let go and move forward from grief steadfastly with love, despite the essentially cruel and random nature of the universe.
The other Photographic Memory songs are pretty cool too. Never heard of em before, excited for that release. Due out next week Photographic Memory, by Photographic Memory
new tidal single, kinda scrappy emo punk stuff a la snowing – seen it compared to early title fight if thats your thing
this is just a pretty soft indie rock song. idk it feels kinda like if lvl up was more spacey and less fuzzy?
a little less basement, a little heavier. maybe it reminds me of boys night out? vocal melody at the end of hollow point is a straight up Northstar accident underwater rip tho
This has a lot of 90's alt rock to it. Maybe even a hint of shoegaze. Fans of older Smashing Pumpkins for sure. Makes sense as Corey from Gleemer is producing the EP.
