Jejune, Turning Point, and Garrison don’t feel all that obscure to me. I’ve never heard of a ton of bands in that second tier
Not emo at all really, but my friends in Chicago we play a ton of shows with finally dropped their album, experimental jazz stuff. This thread likes good stuff so maybe check it out:
Not sure if it belongs in here or not, but Kid You Not just released a new album today, "Thanks, I Hate It," on Deep Elm Records. Along the lines of Iron Chic/Hot Water Music type style.
This just started! Come tune in throughout the day/night and support Ratboys (for putting this whole thing together) and all the fantastic acts playing.
It’s been out for a while, but I still don’t think the Oceanator album got enough attention. A female poc album in the genre is rare and it’s fantastic.
Started playing through all the albums I listened to this year and liked to make an end of the year list, any recommendations of stuff I might have missed would be great. I just want to echo my post from last week, the Tricot album from the beginning of this year is also so fucking good.
I'm only like 7 records in but my AOTY so far is Beach Bunny, I guess I'm a sucker for lovesick power pop Playing the Ratboys album from early in the year now, I didn't like it as much as the last one at first but it is very very good, great young band. And they've been doing so much after getting derailed by quarantine.
working on it! i added more! they've actually been a band for a decade in a few months! ppl are just finally starting to notice
