Yeah, that EP reminds me of Deafheaven at points for sure, also Deftones in some of the guitar parts, but it does also seem to have some emo-ish sensibilities as well.
Here's a double whammy, two bands called Snooze - each from one side of the emo genre: Check this one out if you like the math rock side of emo - algernon cadwallader-esk. Check this one out if you like the memo weed party kid stuff. (This actually has members of Just Friends in it and maybe graduating life/mom jeans?? I'm not really sure)
this was the last leer release, and the songs on it are HOT (and what got me into them) . The guitar tone of the songs are wild
sometimes i wish we could have the old one back, just without all the drama at the end haha there were so many great recs in there
Love this album, great rec! Absinthe Father put out a great EP a couple days ago. The band's like a more lo-fi Julien Baker with buried vocals that work so well.
Here's some more great emo albums I plugged often in the old thread before it died. Very diff vibes for each one FFO: Young Jesus, Dismemberment Plan, weird, proggy, poppy, mathy all at once FFO: mathy punky screamy shit FFO: everyone will like this, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, Everyone Everywhere FFO: classic album imo, they had two bassists and it's heavy, group vox, etc FFO: Death Cab for Cutie meets Radiohead
Here's another good'un. Jake Halpin has a lyric about smoking that doesn't immediately leave me jaded which is unusual and very good.
I always forget that Look Mexico had a song featuring Frank Turner. More specifically, that I for some reason own it on vinyl..
Look Mexico is so damn good. Best band territories even. They haven't released anything that is less then an A+ for me. That record is a huge grower, I think To Bed To Battle is a more immediate and better starting place. It's all gold though.
