To me, greatest hits was...distinct is maybe the word I’m looking for. New LP is just...kind of bland. It’s got some riffs and good songs, it’s certainly not bad but I’ve never seen anyone outside of here say that the new one is better. Seems like a number of bands could have released it as opposed to Greatest Hits being clearly Remo Drive
Six Australian Emo Bands You Need To Know In 2020 All of these bands are good and the list includes Sports Bra who are fucking incredible
That’s always been a problem in the punk community and I reckon it’s become even worse now in the streaming era with so much music at people’s fingertips - if an album doesn’t hook you by the third song it’s so easy to just forget about it and move on to the next thing on the list, which is probably going to sound like what you’re already familiar with. Feels like there’s just a lot less ’space’ now for music that’s challenging to people.
Yeah this is how I feel. I don't mind bands trying less immediate and less pop-punky stuff, in fact I'm totally up for that, but I just found that last record had nothing that interested me bar like two songs. I should go back to it though, maybe I'll do that again.
Started slowly going through this list, and holy shit Ceres are brilliant. Collarbone, 2011 is an absolute bop.
Any of you listen to Coletta? They're doing really interesting things IMO. It's like early 2000's post-hardcore with math rock and hip-hop elements.
I wasn’t paying attention and thought the new Worst Party Ever was an LP but alas it’s not. Really solid EP!
Really liking what I’ve heard from addy and Crisman, couple those with the new Ratboys album and Topshelf is having a killer start to 2020. On an unrelated note, I’m surprised more people aren’t hyping this very excellent new Church Girls record.
Church girls is so good, but I think part of it might be that they’re not on chatter bot anymore. Also really enjoying the new topshelf signings
alexander - wonderland was this posted? completely missed it last friday, loving it. slightly more expanded sound than their last.
discovered the singer of Weed’s new band last night and it’s one of the best things I’ve heard in a while. nothing on streaming but all three releases are uploaded to YouTube/shared by the band, let me know if anybody wants a zip! riyl: Ovlov, Cloud Nothings, etc
Man those Addy songs rule! I played them a few times in a row today. Excited for that. The Alexander album is also very good.
Any relation between the singers of Wednesday and diva sweetly? Sound so similar and have the same last name lol
