I can't stand it and I like the last 3 albums(Cody being my favourite)

 

yeah, wouldn't say Cody is antithetical to self titled but I would say the strengths of Cody are v different from the songs on s/t, aside from their clearly defined sense of melody that they had from the start. Cody is probably my least favorite but I love all the records so that doesn't really mean anything

also weird that the way worse Superheaven album made it, no B&C albums, no PUP self titled, Glassjaw is way too low, did anyone actually care about that American Nightmare album, etc

Its a bad list in general. Never would i have thought to put beach slang on a decade list

I love that ep but yeah I don't like the list and I also don't think (m)any of the blurbs are very well-written at all

I don’t want to speak too much on this as I may also be misremembering BUT from what I remember, some of the members are kind of assholes in person and something happened at a house gig where one of the band members ended up punching someone, I think because of something equipment related?

Can someone with a better understanding of their history chime in here?

DADs singer also had a SUPER creepy tumblr fanfiction/erotica blog that he would write on. The reason DADs doesnt get talked about anymore on lists cause they a consist of asshole creeps making mildly trendy twinkle core emo who became 100% irrelevant after a year of some blog buzz. its also hilarous that for a scene thats "built" on "DIY" ethos his entire reasoning of why DADs should be considered a great emo band is solely based on album + ticket sales. like stfu and crawl back into your hole of obscurity .

Also these decade lists need more CSTVT/Castevet on them. Summer Fences is a great record and so is The Echo & The Light. Which one do y’all prefer?

 

also one of my local record stores (SONIC BOOM) has had a single DADs record sitting in the punk section for straight up 5 years now and not a single person has ever bought it.

 

the other reason I think people don't talk about them much is bc their fanbase was younger and then grew out of them imo, they were like the meme bands now but idk way cringier somehow

 

also main reason I came in is I think the Phony album is maybe a late contender for one of my favorites of the year

Summer Fences is the one I return to more, but both are all-time greats. Truly incredible band.

idk yall it's a really bad list IMO. Brave Bird, Moving Mountains, Young Jesus, Empire Empire, The Reptilian, Prawn, Deer Leap, and Crash of Rhinos all should have made it.
