also sad that alot of early emo revival bands (algernon, snowing, empire empire, grown ups!, etc were all ignored/left off. atleast everyone everywhere is on there
I really can't imagine thinking the self-titled is Joyce Manor's best album, let alone top 10 of the decade worthy.
i cant imagine rating no closer to heaven from wonder years at 20 lmao. it reads alot like best post-2015 emo albums and best pre-2015 punk/indie rock.
trained my brain to just shut off the ranking part of these lists and just view them as "these are good, listen to these albums"
Any list that’s ranking emo records of the decade that doesn’t have HLNPIT at the top was compiled by a cop or a poser. No grey area there.
I don't have enough frustration left in me to go around - I'm picking my battles matt, it's a new day
the blurb describes HLNPIT as nearing guilty pleasure level, and its at that point i knew something was fishy.
Feel free to call me a poser then bc it was 9 on my decade list w Snowing, Yunahon, and Whenever if Ever ahead of it in terms of emo records
My opinion on algernon and Grown ups is that their EPs are much stronger than their LP releases, so that doesn't surprise me that much for those bands.
Also completely fucked up when i was making my decade list and just, forgot to put Grown Ups on there at all to evaluate despite it being an all time favorite so...
i genuinely think about seeing Snowing for the first time at BWF on a daily basis and how that was the happiest ive ever been at a concert
I'm gonna get crucified for this, but Snowing is one of those bands where I have the one song I like, and I only listen to that. Everything else I skip.
Seeing them in a basement with the particular friends I did last month was truly what I needed this year I respect that
i know what you mean. i have had to internally disconnected the actual event/my experience there and the fact that broken world media was a label that fucked over so many of the bands that played that fest. I also have to ignore the fact that half the bands that played it have since come out as abusers and pieces of garage
I mean if you pop into any of the Joyce threads there will be a healthy amount of people who consider s/t their best and I'd consider like three of their records for a top ten, even though I know I'd pick NHA
