glad I caught Warm Thoughts last night. it was just Eliot acoustic with the occassional backing track coming from his ipod. really intimate show, he can really belt it.
Not entirely sure this fits here, but I think people in this thread will enjoy this album: Two classically trained pianists and multi-instrumentalists who decided to make a guitar record. They’ve collaborated with Whitney, Twin Peaks, and Tweedy on other projects, and those influences are definitely present, but this thing runs the gamut from power pop to sludgy, grungy rock.
I actually just listened to it. There are really good tracks on there but it really is all over the map and I had a hard time latching on to it. I’ll definitely come back to it but my initial listen didn’t blow me away. An interesting listen for sure!
Yeah it’s definitely quite varied, but after a few listens it’s becoming more cohesive to me. I find their voices quite captivating and really enjoy their harmonies.
Those are my favorites right now too, definitely the most immediate besides “Icon”. I can see myself spending a lot more time with this in the fall and winter and diving deeper into the other tracks.
Saw this band Nectar play with Foxy Dads and Retirement Party and they definitely fit the bill and blew me away, have a similar vibe to a lot of the stuff coming out of Illinois right now but a lot of shorter catchier song that gives good road trip music feelings. Knocking At The Door, by Nectar January and Somewhere are the songs I'm into the most. Also apologies if this has been shared around prior to this new thread
i basically stopped coming here altogether lately because the old thread was deleted. this one pales in comparison (no offense ), it's just not as active and not as much good stuff is in here.
