I think the NYC setlist was "Open Up," "Flashlight," "Darkest Dark," "Everything I Wanted," "I Don't Wanna Live in this World Anymore," "Heart Transplant," and "Universe." There's a chance I'm forgetting a song, but that's the basic shape. I was hoping for more 37 Everywhere and/or Somewhere To Land, but (other than "Everything I Wanted") it's basically the songs I would've guessed for an opening set. For what it's worth, they sounded better than any time I've seen them since maybe the 15th anniversary show in 2012. The harmonies were great, and PJ in particular looked like he was having a blast. The show overall was really good. The Early November's set felt kind of long, but it all sounded good. Hellogoodbye felt kind of loose in terms of planning (and there were a couple of little issues), but the performance side of things was generally great. It's almost hard to believe that Forrest's voice still sounds like this 20 years later. I was glad to get more songs after the album set, since I like all of the ones they played more than most of that first album and I'd never seen them live before.
I am hearing from a little birdie that the Cleveland show is being moved to the Cambridge Room, which is a major downgrade.
Tops. although, surprisingly, as much as I’ve been to HOB Cleveland, I have never seen anyone in the Cambridge room. I think the last 4 or 5 times TEN came to Cleveland they played at Mahalls, which would have been much more suitable.
I saw Winona Fighter play it last year. It was about half way full, so it was a nice intimate set. They played the whole album plus Sabotage. Was sick as hell. Love that band. Love that album. But got a tour like this? Oof.
bummed, but unsurprised, this tour isn’t selling particularly well. what was surprising was the fact they decided to do one at all. I have loved this album fiercely for basically half my life at this point, and have always wished it was more widely appreciated but the fact is that TEN is already a niche band, and even amongst those into them this is an album most fans don’t seem to care much for. I wish that wasn’t the case and I really do think it’s by far their crowning achievement, but it doesn’t change the fact that most fans only care about the records on either side of it (particularly TRTC and IC). but all of this is only making me more motivated to make sure I am present for the Cat’s Cradle show. I feel like there’s slim chance of ever getting anything besides the obvious cuts from this record live from here on out and I need to see The Car in 20 live (one of the most glaring and disappointing omissions from the 10 year shows, imo).
The lack of hype around TEN gets me so riled up. I didn’t get into the band until after TRTC so I have no nostalgia for it but it’s incomprehensible to me that tmtmtp didn’t become the classic sophomore album that catapaults a band over its rough full length debut (imo) and into the next level. Feel like this record is a lot better than many of its more popular peers that are doing better on the nostalgia train and its equally baffling that fans of the older sound haven’t really stuck around for the new stuff.
I just feel like they never really nailed down an image or schtick like other scene bands (besides Ace’s short lived fro). They just came off as normal dudes playing emo music. Never had this huge persona like other bands at the time. Just good dudes and good tunes. Ever So Sweet was such a huge emo jam that it just seemed like they couldn’t eclipse it. Saw them coheadline with the Movielife a few years back in Philly and only a couple hundred people were there for that show too.
Criminally underrated band, always bums me out that they didn’t take off as they should’ve or got to ride this recent nostalgia wave this genre has been having. I really wish one of these larger bands would take them out for a full tour. Also, a fan of any era of TEN should find something to love about their newest album.
I think losing most of the band members didn’t help, they are still exceptionally great live but it’s definitely huge difference when it’s the whole band up there
I would have attended this tour if they weren’t doing an album play for the only album in their discography that I don’t really care for. Plus, didn’t they already do a tour for this one a decade ago? I attend almost every possible opportunity I have to see TEN, but I skip when they focus on this record.
TMTMTP was the album that lost me - it was just a bit ambitious to get people to listen to that many albums worth of songs, and I didn’t even try. I ended up getting super into In Currents though. FAOT is sublime.
curious what they cut in favor of those songs… I hope they don’t keep doing that for the rest of the tour. was really excited about the idea of a full set of TMTMTP only.
looks like Scared to Lose, From Here to LA, Driving South, and Is it My Fault fell off the set https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-...l-city-music-hall-harrisburg-pa-6b4aa2f6.html :(
for the love of god I hope they keep them in. I don’t need to see Ever So Sweet or I Want to Hear You Sad ever again, I will never get another chance to see any of the songs you listed.
According to their Insta, Ace says they’re adding “a surprise” tonight that should remain for the rest of the tour.
