What’s this Narrow Mouth EP you speak of? I can’t find it online lol

 

Patreon exclusive EP! He did 3 EPs at one point, Narrow Mouth was the heavy one, then there was an instrumental one and I forget what the vibe of the third was. Each was 3 songs

 

the last one (Cola) was like super chill acoustic based stuff. I really like all three honestly

 

I definitely saw the patreon post on his instagram and was quite interested with that heavy EP especially; totally forgot about it later and saddly never heard it

 

if anyone happens to have them... TEN always had great b-sides

 

New song out today. Called ‘the fool’. Just on first listen just now

Feeling pretty whatever about The Fool just like I do with About Me.

What We Earn is still a banger though!

 

The Fool’s been my least fav.

About Me rocks though. Reminds me of Jimmy Eat World.

 

The fool is not a good example of what the rest of the record sounds like. I think it works well in context tho.

 

Are there any more songs in similar vein to What We Earn?

 

What We Earn is the strongest for me by far, it sounds like what I imagine a heavier version of Lilac would sound like.

Yes, there’s one other song that does that sort of dark heavy thing that what we earn does. But there are a lot of different sounds and dynamics on the album. They blow up a lot at random times and build some really interesting song structures. The first two songs are awesome, the magician, may actually be my favorite on the album, just a great chorus and has a a great bridge that absolutely explodes. That song gives me a TRTC vibe, just with how it’s a catchy mid tempo rock song that starts with the chorus, and is similar in vocal range.

Personally I think this may be Ace’s best album to date vocally, just goes hard all over this thing. I’ll be posting my review in here before the record drops, right now I have the album rated really high and in my top 3 TEN records. Imbue is my favorite if you want a reference.

I’m kinda lukewarm on all of these so far. Which is a huge bummer. Hope they grow on me.

 

The Fool is the only one I don’t really care that much for, but if it’s really an outlier then I’m happy

Idk if this is consensus or not, but I think the first half of In Currents is the best version of this band. Poppy, production elements, different instruments (string guitar, xylophone), crisp drums, distorted guitars, and of course Ace’s top notch vocals. I find myself going back to that often.

 

In Currents is my favorite album from them front-to-back, battling for #1 with TRTC, close call

 

The nostalgia/love for For All Of This I put that on and my body is pumped.
