Just threw that album on last night. Title Track, Reaction and Emergency are some of my favorite of all the Ace projects. Also wish they would put that Bittersweet Symphony cover on streaming services. I bought it on iTunes like 15 years ago but lost the file.
Seeing them open their show with playing that cover live was sooo fun. Much better than the recording, imo.
i love this song off that album, it was a single too! but didn't do much, definitely an underrated album but top tier from ace!
its not letting me put my address in for some reason even though ive ordered from them before. im pissed
My biggest issue with When I Hit The Ground is that it has some of his all time worst choruses (Sweeter Light, SOS, Over This, Can't Run Away), possibly his worst song ever (Leader) and overall just loses his specific magic for me in place of a more commercial and tampered down version. That being said, there's still plenty of great stuff on it, but I would be able to easily cut the album in half
The demo of Over This had such a better chorus. I was so hyped to hear the album version and remember being so disappointed.
Yep, 100% true. I almost typed that same thing but figured no one would know what I was talking about. When I first heard the album version and the chorus came on, I felt personally attacked.
It’s home to some of his worst songs, and most of the good ones are even still pretty mid tier in the context of his discography as a whole. I like Take The Money, the title track, and Where Do We Go the most
i do too lol but it would be my least favorite thing he's released. the first six songs are unstoppable
Gold Rush always felt half assed to me, so many of the songs sound basically the same as each other, not really much innovation or anything there
I think while the songs may not vary much from one to the other, innovation can be found on the record itself. There’s not much else in his catalogue prior that sounded like it, and it seemed evident at the time that he was very excited and most inspired by the looping elements of TWWK. It probably didn’t need to be 34 minutes long, but I appreciate how laser focused it feels, and the songs are great (maybe except for Gods lol). Super light and fun
