Wow, the version on patreon is pretty different. He posted that he sold the music of it to a different band and it turned into this song.
I still think some YouTuber or tiktoker will cover the acoustic version of it, and it will go viral. From Patreon "only a handful of people have ever heard this song. it was actually placed on now thats what i call music a few years back. but i was advised not to sign the record deal that came with it.. and then everything fell through. i was a truly challenging time in my life. anyway... the music portion of the song was purchased by a band called walk off the earth. and they did their own cool thing over it. but this is the original.. probably the closest i ever came to that "magic moment" enjoy it!"
Based off this tracklist, are the b-sides the original recordings, or re recordings? TWENTY TRACKLIST 01. Trees - (new) 02. Make It Happen - (b-side RTC) 03. Denent - (new b-side RTC) 04. Over My Shoulder - (new b-side from Lilac) 05. Five Years - (b-side MMP) 06. The Sand - (new) 07. 5am On Sunday (new b-side from Lilac) 08. My Own Dialogue (new) 09. I would guess from a legal standpoint they would have to be rerecordings right? Would Drive Thru own the original demos?
Any Jersey peeps who were planning on going to their NYE show in Asbury know if they’re honoring those tickets for the pony show in October?
Going to have to look up Achieving The Normal. I know Dream is Over is(also?) a Finding Westerly song which they were connected to TEN somehow and I can’t remember how.
new Make It Happen is pretty good but I definitely get a bit of inpostor syndrome after having the other two versions for... ahem, like 20 years. It's hard to hear a new take on it. Definitely less vocally emotional in this version, but still is a really nice take on it. Honestly, I think I'm gonna have a hard time wrapping my head around an album that's half songs I've known a long time and half brand new hah
Sometimes I feel like I’m watching a Jew celebrate Christmas while I sit in the corner and watch you open presents.
Hope this goes well for them but feel like this really is a niche market they are targeting with this. Feel like a repress of For All This and Acoustic EP box set (maybe with this as a Third disc) would have sold better. Man if they made the vinyl for acoustic EP just like the CD is be all over it. That was my favorite CD. After looking Enjoy the Ride did exactly what I described in 2011. Interesting and good for them for going for something different though
Why wouldn’t anyone consider this a new album? It’s 10 new recordings, 5 being songs that only the most hardcore of fans know about. It kinda reminds me of that last Tegan & Sara album where they recorded songs they wrote 20 years ago
