We fucked around long enough, let's just get straight into it: TMTMTP Lilac In Currents The Room's Too Cold Imbue
As much as I love TEN Lilac didn’t do it for me. I agree with the poster above, Ace was using the name for a solo kinda sound. I don’t think Lilac is a bad album, it’s definitely a solid one, but I guess das my own fault for creating certain expectations. One of the things I like about in currents and imbue is Ace’s vocals. He freakin killed it and sounds his best, imo.
nope, i stan the trilogy, even though the title is mixed up vs the actual disc sequence for whatever reason
i made a "one disc version" of the trilogy that i like to listen to every once in awhile. but the trilogy as a whole, definitely my least fav.
The Path nukes that whole album for me. One the cringiest things i’ve ever heard. I also do not like Ace’s vocals on that album, they seem extremely flat and rushed.
The Path is certainly odd, but I appreciate the ambition of what Ace was trying to do even if I rarely revisit it in whole. The Mother on its own is their best work.
I would love to hear the version that richard and stefanie totally shat on and had him scrap and redo.
The Path is basically its own separate thing, I personally don't understand how it brings down the two full albums' worth of excellent songs on The Mother and The Mechanic. It was a cool experimental thing for the band to do but you don't have to revisit it.
It just solidifies that the whole thing is a bloated mess to me and that there’s a great record hidden in there. If you combined the best of the first two albums you’d probably have their best record, or close to it.
TMTMTP TRTC Imbue Lilac In Currents FAOT But yea, there's not a single album I don't like there. All just varying degrees of good to great for me.
Lilac In Currents TRTC The Mechanic The Mother Imbue The Path A difficult ranking for me bc Lilac at this point probably wins solely for its back half. It’s just like... specifically what I want the most from this band. In Currents probably does the best job of sampling every corner of the band’s sound though — imo it’s their quintessential release. Got a lot of love for Room’s, but it feels like 2003 in a way that 2021 me is less interested in listening to when I reach for TEN
