Imbue is definitely my favorite. To echo what somewhat else here said, TMTMTP's biggest flaw is Ace's vocal delivery. Album would've been a million times better if he had that raw intensity that In Currents and Imbue has.
It's not even like TMTMTP has particularly different vocal delivery than TRTC, Ace is mostly just enunciating a lot more and has vocal melodies that are a bit more drawn out (overall) which makes sense bc they're not really playing the kind of pedal to the floor rock or the spacious, atmospheric stuff as exclusively as they were on TRTC; the maturing and more varied songwriting necessitated a change in how he controlled his melodies. Idk, his vocal precision really started on TMTMTP to me and idk if I'm explaining it right, but this album is where it seems like his vocals really stepped it up
ace became a better vocalist between TRTC and MMP. he has way more control imo—restraint is so important to that record!!!
Room was incalculably important to me during my teenage years so it’ll always be top of the heap for me. I do recognize that it isn’t their technically best record though, obviously. Just my personal favorite.
I definitely prefer the stripped down In Currents version of Digital Age, but if I was seeing them live I'd go with the Imbue version.
The performance of Digital Age in this video is my favorite. I don’t really like either studio version of it nearly as much as this one.
I like the Imbue one the most. In Currents might be my least favorite TEN album but it has possibly my favorite TEN song Frayed In Doubt
Total banger, glad it’s a live staple. I still think Wearing The Tie is my favorite on that album and criminally underrated in general (need them to play it live).
Sorry if this has been discussed, but listening to TRTC right now and is the violin portion of "The Course of Human Life" gone on Spotify? If so, why is it missing? Am I mistaken? That song ended with violins right?
Yeah, for whatever reason, the Spotify and Apple Music versions of the album are missing a lot of the interludes.
He’s also a highlight of seeing them live (if you’re seeing the original lineup, of course). I’m starting to get real anxious for this next record.
Same lol I got into this band in the middle of their hiatus, at one point I definitely never thought I’d even get a chance to see them live, let alone get 3 additional albums from them.
I was 12 and they broke up the next year and I never thought it'd happen. I was 17 when they announced reunion shows and I remember I was a lifeguard and I listened to them all day on tower on my little speakers, was so excited even though I knew I'd never get to go to Philly or w/e to see them right then
