same af, who knew they'd be one of the only bands to give us a satisfying reunion? When are mineral girls opening for TEN tho?? I'll make the hellish drive to NC for that haha
Yeah, their reunion has certainly delivered. I seriously am so excited to hear what they have in store. If only. Trust me tho, if they ever come around Charlotte, I'm doing my best to get on that show.
I can count on one hand reunions that had bands coming back better than ever (imo). Helps that Ace never really stopped tho I keep forgetting they've been to GA like once since reuniting that I was aware of and I missed it so if I don't wanna keep missing it I'll probably have to drive somewhere far :/ but for sure would make that drives for a TEN/Mineral Girls bill
we can always dream, right? Just watched Ace's Instagram story and it looks like they're recording strings. Oh boy!!!!!!!
Is Ace recording / producing? Do we know that much I haven't been keeping track besides updates on amount of material
I mean, I'm not gonna be surprised if a double album doesn't happen... but they've made very clear mentions of it, so either they're fucking with us (which I don't feel like they would do) or they at least have the intention to do it. Yeah, it looks like he's taking the producer role again.
My Lack Of Skill is slowly becoming a top 10 TEN song for me. i love how it has this jazz lounge sound to it. I also love that bluesy riff Bill does at the end of Driving South. Bill is a great example of doing a 3rd guitarist correctly. He added a huge texture to the band. hell they even mention that in the TMTMTP documentary which ive prob watched a hundred times but never get sick of it.
its still kinda hard watching Ace go at it with Bill and Chris in the doc but i totally understand why he was being so sensitive and kinda unreasonable. im sure the pressure of following up a classic with this elaborate 3 disc record was nerve wracking
I want the kind of confidence in friendships you must need to keep that film rolling and then allow it into the final product. The confrontation was intense and made me v anxious the first time I saw it
Yeah it seemed like Bill was trying his best to let Ace know everything is ok and they'll get through it somehow but that only seemed to make Ace more upset. I guess they must have a very very strong friendship to allow that footage into the public eye
Late to the convo but YES, this band is one of the few who reunited and were better than ever. In Currents and Imbue are imo their best records. Pumped for the Jersey show in October, especially since they added Owel as an opener.
I mean, relatable. Feel like at the height of any emotional breakdown the last thing you wanna hear is about how it'll be okay later however illogical that might be. Bc it sux heavy now. Imo anyway what do you think
feel like in currents gets constantly lost in the shuffle by me, like it's a great album but I'm always bound to reach for the other three first
Yeah when I go through a BPD fit of mania or depression or w/e I hate hearing "it'll all work out" so I get why Ace was so defensive.
Yeah I mean idk Ace's life so I didn't wanna assume but that seemed like a familiar mental illness in the midst of doing what you wanna do type thing but like. That can also happen to literally anyone so maybe I'm just projecting here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anybody been keeping up with Ace's Instagram stories? He posted a clip of Bill recording guitar for a song yesterday! Lumberyard (his studio) is also worth a follow too and has been posting stuff as well.
