They are worth a drive. I've seen them 3 times and they are fantastic live. Crowd always goes nuts too so those shows are fun. And yeah a stacked throwback tour would be sick.
wild to think TEN is both the most underrated band from that label and also probably the best. a new TEN record though hype hype hype
I want a poppy Ace record so badly, haha. That's more of a side note than anything. I'm super excited for anything TEN or Ace related.
yeah Imbue was my dream "please make another record like The Mechanic" album, so id be so down with them taking up a more The Mother-esque sound, poppier or even more country tinged.
It's them or HIPV for most underrated imo I honestly can't believe we're getting another TEN album. After so many reunions with the band releasing a half baked record and then fading away again, to have gotten two albums as good as IC and Imbue were was a treat Also, I would travel insurmountable distances to see TSL with TEN. Especially since it guarantees they'd play Fluxy
They played "Fluxy" at the TMTMTP show in Philly during the encore set and I almost passed out holding my breath hoping for Kenny to surprise everyone and run out on the stage. Didn't happen, but the possibility alone was enough to get me amped up. Also HIPV opened that night, which was awesome.
I've seen TEN 9 times and they've done Fluxy almost every time I've seen them, and I wait to see if Kenny will come out to do his part and he never has :( Although Soupy came out once to do Kenny's part and that was hype. That was the In Currents release show in Philly.
I honestly hated HIPV when they opened for TEN in Philly. Did not motivate me to try and listen to their music whatsoever. Idk where I'd like them to go at this point tbh. I'd love something like The Mother, of course, since it's my favorite thing they've done, but I don't really expect them to go that route either. I'd be interested in hearing them take a less straightforward approach to their songwriting this time around, messing with song structures and time signatures more like they did on TRTC. Focusing more on mood/tone/atmosphere/whatever than verse/chorus structures. Yeah, the anticipation is gonna be painful... buuuuuut I think I can wait a year for a record I wasn't really confident we'd ever get.
Personally I would rather they touched on the heavier moments of the last record which I thought were amazing
We don't need another band trying to rip off Mike Kinsella... Ripoff Tim Kinsella instead, he makes more interesting music anyway lol.
Oh I know, I was more saying "Gahhhhhhhhh" out of excitement that it's actually going to be a thing. Although yes, also "Gahhhhhhhhhh" for having to wait that long lol
Prob not likely but I want them to go all in on a much darker sound like Joe pretty much said they were on Imbue
omg yes rip off Tim Kinsella. They'd never get that weird if we're talking Joan of Arc but maybe like. Owls or Cap'n Jazz. also shout out to that No Resolution / the Path comparison, maybe that's why I like No Resolution so much. This is a good thread
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HYPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE This made my damn day. Can't wait to see the daily updates. "What a time to be alive," indeed.
