unfortunately I always felt like this band just got lumped into the drive thru records pop punk scene and they are so much more than that. I feel that if more people had heard IMBUE we would be talking about that record as a scene classic. it is that good

Idk about that. Imbue was a different record, but more because they focused in on an aspect of their sound that's been there for a long time as opposed to expanding on new aspects. That being said, if they had released it in their first run or something by some incredible time travel shenanigans, I think I might agree. though then again maybe not since people still sleep on TMTMTP

 

When I saw them live in 2011 during their 'reunion' tour, they played House of Blues in Cleveland and it was the least attended show I've ever been at House of Blues. It was such a bummer. The next time they played the Cleveland area, they played a super small venue in Akron that was probably a 4th or 5th of the size of House of Blues.

 

Imbue felt like a refinement and melding of what theyd done on IC. IC can basically be split into 3 pieces: poppier songs, heavier rock songs, and then the acoustic ballads. Imbue feels more like they took those first two pieces and melded them together and sprinkled in some more atmospheric moments and interesting structures. I think @nohandstoholdonto and I talked about this when the album first came out but I love that Imbue plays around with song structure and tempos and using their 3 guitars to build these textured and atmospheric moments but also crashing down with some hard hitting 3 pronged guitar attacks. I guess for me IC seems more rigid and strict in how the songs are played whereas Imbue feels more malleable and like liquid. I love them both very much ofc but thats just the feeling theyve both given me.

Obligatory TMTMTP is their best and one of the most underrated yet somehow wildly ambitious albums anyone from our scene ever produced.

 

A massive bummer, lots of bands in this scene don't get their due. It's no wonder they space out their activity so much. I hope I get to see them live on this go around

 

The guitar work (and tone) on Imbue is incredible. I think Harmony might be my favorite from Imbue, and that was a song that was written for In Currents and didn't make it.

If I had to narrow it down, The Mother has to be my favorite thing TEN has ever done. At the time, that disc was going in a completely different direction from anything they had ever done, and it paid off.

I also love the fact that I am a 15 minute drive from Philly, because I can't imagine anything beating a hometown TEN show in Philly.

 

Things like that sometimes make me wanna relocate back to the NE lol. I know this is weird but the Path is still my favorite ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To me, Imbue almost feels like it literally could've come out in 2009 after TMTMTP if they hadn't broke up. It seems like a much more logical follow-up to their initial progression than IC did.

I got into them through In Currents actually. Saw them on the reunion tour and they blew me away. I definitely only have seen their fan base decline more and more I think

 

Yo that is disheartening I didn't think at all their fan base declined. What makes you say that?

 

compared to the early 2000s its a hundred percent declined much like a lot of those bands that came up during that time. That being said I think they have a loyal fanbase that will support whatever they do and allows them to operate as a part time band.

 

I will buy their next record twice

 

if we all do that on the first week they could be super successful!

 

If they pull a paramore and release the vinyl later I would definitely happily be buying it twice

 

I have spent a lot of money this band's music, merch, bundles, posters etc over the years and I will continue to do so.

 

I also completely agree with this.

 

They haven't played San Diego since their Warped Tour run. Hopefully they come down here on the next tour.

Random, but can TEN and TSL just do a co-headlining show in Philly already? I've been waiting for them to do one since TEN got back together in 2011.

 

I'm not sure if other's will agree, but anyone who is cracving a The Path-type album might want to look towards Tim Kasher's No Resolution. It doesn't have the dialogue like The Path, but the story the album tells along with the music (and honestly Tim's voice at times) really remind me of the album. Either way, the album is solid if anyone is looking for something to check out

 

I would make the drive for that. TSL is one of the very few bands left on my bucket list to see

 

I wish there would just be another Drive Thru tour! haha
