Imbue might be their best work if TMTMTP didn't have 4 times as many tracks and none were duds idk but it is true that his best vocals are on Imbue and those songs truly rock. But Room and In Currents are super dope. Oh? What's that you say? All of their albums are fantastic and they will only get better? You right
Imbue is such a good damn record. It feels more to me like a direct continuation from what they were doing pre-hiatus than In Currents did. I also think it works better as a cohesive album than In Currents as well.
Yep totally agreed Audrey. Imbue feels like a perfect continuation of TRTC to me. Meanwhile, revisiting TMTMTP, this is easily one of the best albums to come from our scene. The sheer scope and ambition and songwriting is far above many of TENs contemporaries.
This is why I'm marrying you Tho I will say I think Imbue feels more like a continuation of The Mechanic to me.
oh yeah it definitely feels like that more-so than anything. Imbue is a great, great record and this is a band that I constantly underrate because I really do love everything they've done. The Mechanic and TRTC remain my favorites, but as a whole TMTMTP is definitely their crowning achievement.
Its a shame the original version of the Path never came to fruition. Watching the making of documentary and watching all the different musicians they brought in, plus the voice actors to do the parts that ultimately wouldnt see the light of day is wild. I still really like the Path, I dont really listen to it like I do the other two discs but I still appreciate it and love the story, I just think I wouldve liked the "original" version more. But thats just speculation of course.
I'd take a couple of songs from Imbue over almost anything from In Currents, but I like In Currents as a full record way more.
Yeah, I like In Currents more, though that's not to say Imbue isn't great. Overall, In Currents listens better as a full record and has stronger singles (Frayed In Doubt, In Currents, Tell Me Why) but as I said before, Imbue is Ace's best vocal performance, and Narrow Mouth, Boxing Timelines and I Don't Care are truly astounding additions to their collection of awesome singles.
I think I was also really bummed by Imbue at first because they really built it up to be this super dark, cold album, when outside of a couple of songs it was pretty much anything but
they definitely released the wrong songs first. second single should have been Boxing Timelines record is amazing and means so much to me
I hope "One More Song" finally gets a studio version... There have been like 3 albums since he posted it on youtube.
I see the Devil and God comparison in terms of what it did for them sonically and considering the preceding record. I don't think they were describing it in terms of like. direct comparison. In Currents is great, Tell Me Why's chorus is absolutely immense, but I listen to it the least despite how good it is. The tone of Imbue and TRTC are more my speed, and the songs are immaculately produced -- like, I know very little about production, but in terms of cohesion, I think these are songs that you can very visibly hear the similar qualities and threads running through out. Death Cab is good at this too from We Have the Facts to Plans. Also the Path is my favorite disc and I promise I'm not being a contrarian there is just literally nothing about it that doesn't fascinate me. That being said I always listen to them together never just one
I'm sounding so bias right now because TEN is my favorite band (was literally T.E.N Fan on AP) but they are so over looked and forgotten in the scene in 2016. Im 18 and it is extremely, extremely rare to find someone around my age who knows The Early November.
I don't disagree with you, I think them going away for that six year hiatus or however long it was hurt their growth a bit and people tend to lump them in with the other Drive Thru bands. Imbue seemed to do good things for them, if they released another album on a regular cycle and toured a little more I'm sure it'd help a lot
i revisited the room's too cold today...definitely their best lp front to back. not really a bad song on it.
