Mostly positive on the set choices, got the ones I really wanted. So, can’t complain. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-...s-mr-smalls-theatre-millvale-pa-634aa2df.html
No “decoration” is a weird choice since that’s the one classic sounding TEN song on that whole album EDIT: oh wait. Is “direction” actually supposed to say “decoration”?
HGB set if anyone is curious https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/hell...s-mr-smalls-theatre-millvale-pa-6b4aa21a.html
Seeing this band with Armor For Sleep and the Spill canvas was a pleasure. That tour fucked. AFS played their first album, while TEN played Room’s Too Cold but in reverse track order.
Here is The Car in 20 from Pittsburgh. A bunch more and HGB and 1 Punchline on my channel, too. The band seemed so so into playing this one.
If HGB closes tomorrow I have two tickets for $40 in Raleigh. I'm not about that late AF life on Sunday with it being a school night and it already being a 75 min drive away.
What kind of world do you guys think we'd be living in if the Million Different People albums had been Early November albums? On When I Hit The Ground especially, the production is SO good and I'd love for songs like "Where Do We Go" to be showing up in TEN sets. I know Ace has revisited at least one of the songs on a reworks album, but IMO they deserve way more attention/praise in his discography, this stuff rips.
It really is such a wild "sliding doors" moment because When I Hit The Ground was intended to be Ace's big mainstream jump after TEN broke up and the title track was supposed to be the song to do it. The album was originally recorded in LA with big session guys and I think a major label was supposed to be in play, and then, for whatever reason, that didn't happen. If memory serves, Ace was unhappy with the LA version of the album, so he re-recorded it with Chris Badami, it came out on Vagrant and didn't really go, but man there are some GREAT songs on that album. "When I Hit The Ground," "Reaction," "Sweeter Light," "The Only Thing I Have," "Where Do We Go From Here," "Over This," "Can't Run Away," "Take The Money and Run," all fantastic. And then "Reintroduction" is an earth-shattering vocal from Ace. May have to throw this one on.
