Ace has released some stuff on Spotify previously only available to his subscribers. Burning Your Eyes in the Sun is basically the opener from Lilac right?
About time he put HIREATH on Spotify. Never understood why it wasn't. Burning Your Eyes, Waiting Room and Carry On are some of his best.
Gave this record another spin the other day and it’s still doing nothing for me. I’ve been a huge TEN fan since the very early days and absolutely loved Imbue so after waiting for 4 and a half years - this bummed me out hard. Oh well.
I always flip flop about how I feel about Lilac. Right now I'm back to loving it. Still, I'm shocked by how low the streaming numbers are for this thing. People didn't give this album a damn chance.
Just got this on vinyl. It really grew on me. Also did a full discography listen over the last few days, it's amazing how much they progressed. Their last 3 records are so amazing that they kinda put the early stuff to shame.
Definitely think that's their best album. Narrow Mouth and Better That Way are absolutely massive. And with Digital Age they took one of my least favorite TEN songs and turned it into one of my favorites.
TMTMTP>Imbue>TRTC>In Currents=Lilac>For All of This how I feel atm, will eventually revisit Lilac and probably like it more than I did when it came out
Imbue > In Currents > Lilac > TRTC > TMTMTP > For All of This TMTMTP has got some top tier TEN songs on there like Figure It Out, Decoration, 1000 Times a Day, A Little More Time, etc. But I think it's biggest problem is Ace being so reserved with his voice. There are so many points where I feel like he should be belting the fuck out, but he keeps his delivery clean and light. The second disc owns, though. I think as a whole it would be much better as a 16 track single disc album.
Definitely agree with all of this despite me still ranking it the second best (which I stand by). I can appreciate the triple disc effort but I would have rather had a 16-18 record.
I love Ace’s vocal approach on TMTMTP (particularly on The Mother), and still feels it has some of his best melodies.
