"My Weakness" is definitely the most classic TEN track here. I'm not in love with the opening riff, but that chorus is killer.
The chorus to My Weakness keeps reminding me of Feel It Still and I can’t quit that thought. what an album. I put off listening to it, shame on me. I will be returning to this for a while. I loved the singles- Ave Maria is so good. God, Ace can do no wrong with me.
Anyone catch that mountain range in my living room chorus melody played on the trumpet in ....I believe it is fame?
I'm loving this so far. Idk why but Imbue didn't click with me at all when it came out, but I'm into it after revisiting it as of late. This one brings back some of the poppiness of In Currents, the experimentation of the trilogy and hints of Ace's other projects, but all glued together in a cohesive way. I'm really impressed. As soon as the production choices on a few songs grow on me, I can see it becoming my favorite post-reunion album.
Imbue didn't click with me either. I think it's like Ace said in the interview--It's because it wasn't vocally focused and didn't really have choruses.
I still don’t get what Ace means when he says Imbue doesn’t have choruses haha. Does he just mean like, a chorus he’s not proud of? Lack of a strong radio friendly hook? I just don’t think that across the board they’re as “jammy” of a band as he thinks they are
Circulation is an example where he not only writes a big chorus, but even goes for that same type of post chorus “ooh” hook that he does in a bunch of places on this record too
Honestly, that quote made me wonder if Ace knows what band he's in haha. They have so many big catchy choruses.
I personally think imbue was ace's best album, vocally. Lilac has a lot of nice tracks. The band used more piano for this album. I think it woulda been super great melodic album if there was more bill lugg
I keep hearing it as you on my mind the first 2 times and you own my mind the second 2 repetitions ? Possibly? Haha I don’t know
i agree lol, i think he was trying to say that this record was more “pop” without saying those exact words
