With Fall coming in, I gotta give it another listen. I definitely always thought "The Lilac," "Perfect Sphere," "My Weakness," "Hit By A Car" and "Ave Maria" were great, but the album didn't live me as long as others (like the self-titled or In Currents). Always thought the album's mix was a little weak, particularly coming off of Imbue, which sounds absolutely massive, but its also not the same kind of record so *shrugs* Honestly, my favorite song from the Lilac era is the original version of "5am on Sunday," which came out on the Twenty album. This version was sent to Ace's Patreon members back in 2020, it was called "13 Years" and was much darker, slower and moodier, really highlighting the pain in the lyrics, which I thought the new version shied away from. So there's definitely great, classic TEN fare from this period, no doubt about it.
Seems as good a time as any to emphasize Lilac is so good. Top 3 TEN record to me. Feel like it would’ve gotten a way better reception if it was labeled an Ace record.
I know they’re doing something for the 20th of TMTMTP. I’m assuming it’s announcing whatever that is.
New York date is in february https://www.axs.com/events/1232779/...ign=K1B7U6C3W4N7M8E2P640GTY8&skin=websterhall
Well, I guess I’m assuming this is the tour HGB is playing the album. Forrest said they’d tour on it next year when I saw him open for Jack’s a couple weeks back. I guess it could be a separate tour, but I feel like it’s an album celebration tour for both bands.
Already marked my calendar. Looks like presale tickets are tomorrow too. Webster Hall feels like too big a room for these guys at this point but fuck it I’m still there
Listening to TMTMTP this morning. A lot of misses for me on the first disc but man I forgot how much I love the second disc. Also just clicking with me that Is It My Fault sounds a lot like Lightening Crashes by Live. Not sure if that was intentional to tie into the "make it a mix of the perfect 90s radio songs" line from earlier in the album.
Haven’t listened to The Path in probably almost 20 years lol, meaning to but keep forgetting to track it down. I never *loved* The Mechanic and The Mother but been revisiting them lately and they’ve aged well. I enjoy their entire discography, except I tried Lilac once and found it off putting. Guess I should try again
Seems like every tour announcement has Cleveland and Columbus over Cincinnati. TEN hasn't played here since 2016 on the Taste of Chaos tour.
