Lookin’ good! How do you like your sweet ride? What size is it? I was torn between a couple rides and ended up with the 22” A medium ride. It takes a lot for it to wash over and it has a nice bell. I wish it were a little more crashable at “lower” volumes, but it works just fine with my current set-up. I started looking into PDP’s Concept series. They make 4-piece kits with smaller kick drums which is what I was looking for.
I have the 23” K Sweet Ride, which is my new baby. It washes pretty easily but the crashability is beautiful at all volumes. The bell ain’t nothing to scoff at either. The cymbal to the right is actually a 21” A Sweet Ride brilliant. It’s awesome to have 2 ride options that also make great crashes.
Hey, y'all. Thinking about trying to learn drums this year (or as much as I can haha). I'm pretty much a newbie in that I've never seriously played before other than fulling around. Any recommendations on lessons/apps etc. to help me learn? Thanks!
Hey! You're making a good choice. The world needs more drummers! Drumeo on Youtube is an excellent resource that I have been loving lately. They cover a ton of topics and the lessons are very thorough. Plus they get lots of excellent drummers in their studio.
Anybody use Dream cymbals? I’ve been using some for e past few years and I’m absolutely loving. Should be getting a 20” Dark Matter Energy Ride from them soon.
I don't use them on my kit, but have played in the past. They're undoubtedly some of the best cymbals on the market. I played a cracked crash/ride at a rehearsal studio a while ago and it was still one of the best I've ever played.
The first Dream cymbal I got is a 22” Energy crash/ride and it has been a permanent fixture in my setup since 2016. Unfortunately, a crack began to form in middle of the cymbal between the bell and the rim (so not the actual middle, which would be the bell) earlier this year, but the cymbal still sounds good despite that crack having grown larger and another forming at the edge of the cymbal I don’t play on. Honestly think most Dream cymbals I’ve played on sound fantastic and they’re very cost-friendly, which I love a ton. I got a pair of 15” Energy hi-hats used for just $100 and I traded one of my cymbals with my drum teacher for his 18” Contact crash-ride. Felt like I was searching forever for the right cymbals for me and I finally found them starting with that 22” crash/ride. Excited to eventually replace that with another one. Only cymbal I have in my setup not from Dream (that also isn’t just beyond broken) is a 16” Meinl trash crash that I love. My only complaint about Dream is that they don’t have any effect cymbals that are appealing to me. Not yet, at least.
Thinking about getting one of these soon... just moved back home to be closer to friends and family, and my friends and I have been working on some music for some time, and eventually we want to start getting back into gigging... My brother has our old kit for his band, so this would be a perfect second kit. It's affordable, sounds decent, all-round seems pretty nice... and I like the idea of a small, snappy kit for some pop-rock grooves. And that almost emerald/ocean blue sparkle wrap is just perfect... Looks great.
just bought a $1500 DW performance kit on Reverb. Sorely needed upgrade from the used Starclassic I've been playing for the last 6 some years. Finally I have a floor tom that's bigger than 14"x13"!
Just bought an e-kit to keep me sane during lock down. Should be here today. Might start doing covers for fun. I haven't had a drum set in my house for like 5 years.
