“Okay just smile naturally. Just smile like you would in your normal life. Just go ahead and give a natural smile” on and on for like a minute straight had my entire theater dying
This was very funny but there was a group of drunk wine moms a row in front of us that were talking loudly and laughing at legitimately everything and it kinda threw me off of what was supposed to be played for a laugh and what wasn’t.
She made a manifesto and literally made herself deaf practicing lol don’t know how it can be chalked up to just thinking about it
i got pretty nice crowd for the most part. it was really something seeing people with their hands to their mouths in shock from different scenes. even saw someone partially covering their eyes, that was funny
There were only a dozen or so in audience at my showing but there was a good amount of laughter. Some audible groans when Charlie started to kiss Misha. Still think the de-escalation of the final scene was a great way to end in the film.
anybody see any walkouts over the weekend? Definitely clocked one couple leaving fairly early on once the subject matter was clear yesterday in NYC.
Also im now somehow 2/2 for movies where I go "is that Zoe winters?" about a woman that is not Zoe Winters, who is still in fact in the movie
Someone argued with me that the two main characters were middle class and I’m “No middle class person has an apartment with spiral stairs.”
Every birthday I go to the theater. Really glad this year was this film. I “knew” I was gonna love it from the opening, but then that reveal was so jarring and kind of took me out of it — took me a little bit to “recover.” Can’t fault a film for what I thought it was going to be, but still. The editing was incredible, loved the score. Cast was great. Pattinson might legit be underrated? His physical acting and the editing alone sold so much of the humor, which speaking of, it was fucking hilarious. The “I’ll shoot” photographer bit and the “how close were you to doing it” cutting to a video manifesto bit, especially. Very interesting from a human level and found the ending to be incredibly beautiful and romantic.
It’s the best romantic comedy in a bit. I know it’s divisive but I’m also a big fan of Santcuary, another dark and twisted rom com. The Drama is much better though (much funnier too) and I’ll echo what people said about the editing, truly elevated the film. Thank god for Pattinson and Zendaya, two really cool weirdos with great chemistry.
I liked this. It took me a moment to get over the fact that the reaction to Emma sharing her story was deeply, deeply not how I’d react. If any of my friends did what Emma “did” (planned a shooting 15-20 years ago, were prepared to proceed with it, etc.) i don’t think i would really get very worked up about it. Definitely wouldn’t call the police, as Mischa says. But otherwise, I really enjoyed it a lot. Great performances, great shots and sound throughout.
