4th. Didn't sink in til the 2nd, which was Friday. 1st listen was during the Goodness release era and I didnt get it.
i started listening to is terrified recently and it was far, far weirder than ever i could have imagined
...Is Terrifed doesn't get enough love. Some of is very un even true. Though Ice Of Boston, and Respect is Due are among my fav D Plan songs.
...Is Terrified is actually great, it's awesome posthardcore that's not afraid to get a little weirder than their peers both lyrically and sonically. @Zac Djamoos it reminds me of Domestica in a lot of ways. What did you think?
I get what you mean for sure. I think is terrified is less measured than domestica, if that makes sense? Like, is terrified is super unpredictable and bombastic and domestica feels a bit more written out. They def both draw on some of that D.C. post hardcore sound and play around with textures more than most of the other bands who were doing that style then. I get a lot of q and not u from is terrified too
this is true, but I think it's similar to Domestica (and Burst in Bloom, too) in that it seems like those moments are dictated by the vocalists lyrics and inflections in their respective bands. So D Plan gets a little crazier with it, which makes sense considering the town they're in, but I think it's cool that they're both dictated by theatricality to different extents. Q and Not U is a good comparison too, didn't even cross my mind. I feel like I try to avoid just saying "this D.C. band sounds like another D.C. band!" and I forget to do it completely sometimes
Yeah, I agree with that. You're right, burst and bloom works well in he mix too. Haha, I think bc they're both weird post hardcore D.C. bands I grouped them together in my head before I ever started listening to either
Yeah, it's just the thing to do with DC bands it seems? Dischord type sound is always what I expect if I hear a band is from DC. my first thought was "they've got a D.C. sound, Shudder to Think, Fugazi" bc im never not thinking about Sink to the Beat. wrong thread? i'll see myself out
This album makes me want to cry and party at the same time. I don't know if it's my favorite album ever, but whenever I slap a top ten list together next, I have to presume this'll be on it.
The City will forever be in my top 5 songs of all time. The song structure to Girl 'O Clock is the absolute best.
There are some dark horse contenders for best song on E&I (spider in the snow, the Jitters) but you are invited and the city are tough to argue with
just updating to say 8 1/2 minutes might be another dark horse contender for best song on the masterwork that is E&I those lyrics are something else man
I just got done doing so always worth it. Some days are just E&I days and that's both a beautiful and unfortunate thing
Sounds like a party 2 me Someone show me how to take abrasive elements to make infectious pop music like this wow
