Why would you refer to accusations of sexual misconduct as backlash?

 

Franco seemed so endearing. These allegations might make me want to never watch one of his movies again.

Yea he was so fucking awkward on Seth Meyers last night. Kind of denying and dodging, but also saying he has no intention of contacting the victims ?

 

The article said he had conversations with them privately, prior to Golden Globes night, including apologies and attempts to make things right.

Said it in a few other threads but this is the most disappointing one yet for me, I've been a fan of Franco's for such a long time. Really curious how Seth is going to handle this

 

curious to know if james franco didn't win the golden globe would that woman have ever even posted that tweet. talk about perfect timing to drop a bomb on someone which then triggered even more allegations. So if he would have lost, none of this would have came out?

 

Alot of these accusations (I don't mean to make them sound illegitimate when I say this) occur when the alleged perpetrator is in the news/planned movie or tv show comes out because the public consciousness is already aware of the figure at the moment and then the accuser takes advantage and puts the narrative in their hands. In particular, when the alleged abuser feels proud to be in the spotlight for their professional work, that all gets taken away by the victim. Even if he didn't get the GG, the allegations would have come out around this time since he's getting so many nominations for the movie.

 

Rethink this terrible line of thinking.

 

how's this terrible? I'm not sticking up for him. Just a serious thought.

 

Yeahhhhhhhh yeesh. Ugh. If anything, when they're in the spotlight is the best time to come forward with these allegations. Capitalizing on that attention ensures that the story is heard by the widest audience. Also, seems only fair to rob them of their power/glory in return for what they stole themselves from their victims, no? Why should abusers get to enjoy any public adoration free from the consequences of their actions?

 

Franco has faced allegations before the Disaster Artist was even produced regarding predatory behavior.

 

There's no reason to speculate on that. People who have been abused or mistreated are free to come out about it whenever they want. It's of no one's concern their motive or timing.

 

It's wild that so many people have seemingly forgotten about him messaging a 17 year old girl a few years back.

not trying to overblow it: non-consensual oral sex is rape

or maybe i'm misreading the plastic guards thing. i guess it doesn't say he actually performed the act. but removing it alone is fucking repulsive

 

It is pretty bad to immediately think about how these revelations would affect these silly award shows.

 

Man one of the comments on a Facebook article about the allegations said something like "Let's be real, who wouldn't want to be assaulted by one of the Franco brothers?" It was made by a woman. It's my fault for reading Facebook comments, but still. Every day we stray further from God's light.
