Glad to hear. I watched the first hour of The Room last night and will finish it today before seeing TDA, but I still feared that without more nostalgia for The Room, TDA might fall flat. Glad to hear it stands on its own.

I definitely want to check out the book now. I’m curious how accurate some of the things in the movie are verses the book.

Totally. Wiseau or how ever you spell his name is a total character and Dave and James have great chemistry throughout

It's absolutely fantastic. So much more in depth than the movie. There are parts that make Tommy genuinely scary

So, The Room is just really bad softcore porn?

Okay. So I just finished my very first viewing of The Room. What a ride. I was pretty underwhelmed (even by the so bad it's good standards) until the last 15 minutes... Then I was totally on board.

About to see this finally. I’m having all kinds of weird feelings about. It feels in a weird way like this is going to be a fitting end to my almost 10 years of Room fandom lol.

I've never seen The Room but still loved this, I was going to go last night but as poetic as dying on an icy road after watching The Room would be I decided to avoid that

The entire cast and soundtrack was killer

This was tough to do tonally, because you feel for Tommy despite his eccentricity but they did a good job with it

Yeah the soundtrack was nice. Got giddy when Epic came on.

    Something that's been bothering me

the movie manufacturers this bullshit Malcolm In The Middle / Beard shaving conflict. In the movie, it makes NO sense for Greg to stay with Tommy and shave. He's already seen Tommy is a shitty actor and he's giving up a big opportunity for nothing. In the book (and reality) he's a desperate actor and this is all he's got, so he shaves even though he doesn't want to. Adding this subplot opens up a hole that would be so easily avoided. It's like they were so focused on condensing the book they threw out reason

Yeah, that sort of bothered me too. Not only cause he saw that he was a shitty actor, but not necessarily a great person. I haven't read the book, was Cranston actually in it or was that fabricated?

That was not in the book at all.

Really enjoyed this, but I just happen to love any type of behind the scenes show biz depiction film. Like I said, never saw The Room outside a handful of clips. Loved how they populated it with comedians in random parts. I know the real Tommy has said this is 99% true but I’m wondering how true the on-set conflicts were and Tommy’s anger rooted in Greg finding romance and outside work.

This part was absolutely true, at least the way the book makes it out to be (written from Greg’s perspective, so of course we can’t be exactly sure what Tommy was thinking.) Tommy was definitely jealous of Greg and it drove a lot of his passion for the movie. He wanted to make it good so that he and Greg could be stars together, and he felt like Greg was leaving him behind.

I’m really hoping for some great bonus features / deleted scenes on the blu-ray for this.
