Is this supposed to be in The Dear Hunter thread?

Haha, god dammit. It was meant for the Glassjaw thread. I swear I'm the worst at this on this site. I have too many tabs open and post in the wrong thread waayyyy too often.

This is pretty fun! Don’t think I would have cared much without having seen and enjoyed The Room (because I don’t think this movie is particularly great) but it was a great time.

I don't want to watch The Room but I want to watch this.

I’m genuinely curious why people who haven’t seen The Room want to see this.

because I like Franco and Rogen. and I like that it's a movie about a book about a movie.

because I know about Wiseau and how weird he is and I've seen his shows

That’s fair. I meant it seriously, because I don’t see much value in the film besides it’s relation to The Room/Wiseau’s mythology. However I can’t say what my mindset would be if I was removed from The Room, though actors alone are rarely something to get me out to a film.

I’d be curious to hear other people’s reasons too if they have any other. I find it kind of fascinating that this film about a cult film has gained the status it has.

It feels like the perfect ending to Tommy's journey, honestly. Like, he's getting attention on a whole new level. Fuck, he'll probably be at the Oscars. My dream is that this wins an Oscar and Franco has Tommy up there with him.

I'll prob end up watching The Room before I see Disaster. But dammit I'm really not looking forward to it considering that it's long. I've seen plenty of scenes out of order and it's funny because of how alien and stilted it is. But again it's long as fuck and I'm worried I'll lose interest again.

I've been feeling for some reason like this very well may win some awards based on the buzz. Maybe at the very least Franco will be nominated for BA.

I don’t know, it sustains that incredibly well all the way through. I’ve seen it twice, probably 5 years apart, and it didn’t really lose me either time.

It's definitely not for everyone, but I remember watching it the first time and thinking it was going to be a slog and I'd get bored after twenty minutes. Yet, somehow, it's like each new scene manages to introduce something totally bizarre and hilarious.

I had to watch it in parts. I don’t know how someone could watch it in one sitting

Did you watch it by yourself or in a group?

Myself. I agree it would be better in a group, but truthfully I don't really care for the "it's so bad it's good" kind of movie. I watched it while I was reading the book which is probably why I even enjoyed it as much as I did

I cannot watch The Room any more unless it’s with new people. I have exhausted every possible joke out of it in my 30+ viewings. It was an essential part of my college experience lol, and is now just part of my life and it will never leave me.

Seeing this many people talk about it is WEIRD.

It is weird and I am both excited and selfishly wish that it wasn’t so big, even though I’m loving every bit of it. But the thought of like Tommy shirts at Hot Topic or something bothers me lol

I'm guessing best actor nom for Franco and best adapted screenplay and that's about it. Would love for it to be up for best picture but I don't see that happening
