Premiered at SXSW last night and is getting phenomenal reviews (The Disaster Artist)

Has an amazing cast with James Franco, Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Alison Brie, Sharon Stone, Hannibal Buress, Nathan Fielder, Bryan Cranston, Paul Scheer, Jacki Weaver, Zac Efron, Josh Hutcherson, Melanie Griffith, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Zoey Deutch, Eliza Coupe, Zach Braff, Judd Apatow, Jason Mantzoukas, June Diane Raphael, Casey Wilson, Ari Graynor, Randall Park, Jerrod Carmichael, Jason Mitchell, John Early, Kate Upton, Kelly Oxford, Andrew Santino, and the real Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero all making appearances according to IMDB

This might be my most anticipated movie of 2017

 

I still haven't seen The Room but while I can appreciate so-bad-it's-good movies, I feel like the hype behind it will leave me underwhelmed.

 

I'm excited, but a little worried about the tone of this movie. There needs to be a heavy undercurrent of sadness for the movie to really work, Tommy is almost a tragic hero. I don't want him to only be laughed at.

I've been looking forward to this for years. The good reviews aren't necessary for me at all to be excited, but it's nice to hear

 

This got picked up by A24 and should be getting a limited release on 12/1, wide release 12/8

 

I was selfishly hoping it would be out sooner than that. The independent theatre on my city screens The Room every month though, and December will be the 100th consecutive month, so they'll probably do something big. That's exciting

 

If Franco gets an Oscar nomination I'm seeing it as belated for Spring Breakers

 

Unfortunately his Oscar hosting duties cancels that out

 

I just need a trailer. I NEED to hear Franco's accent.

The book is fantastic, darker than I expected. Tommy is a super interesting character

 

Also if Franco actually does win an Oscar for this, Wiseau better accept

 

Lol, as much as I don't care about the Oscars, I fucking pray that this gets nominated and wins for something. It would be the ultimate irony for Tommy Wiseau.

What the hell kind of tone do you guys think this will have?

 

I thought this was gonna end up being an extremely niche/cult type movie, it's so fucking cool that A24 picked it up and are giving it an awards push. I'm SO glad this is as good as it apparently is.

 

Another reason to be pumped for December.

It's a remake of 'The Room'? And my understanding is that The Room is one of those so-bad-it's-good movies. I've got a few friends that watch it and piss themselves laughing every time.

 

It's about the making of The Room. Based on the book "The Disaster Artist" by Greg Sestero who starred as Mark in The Room.

Before I finished reading the sentence I thought he was saying that was the teaser and the full movie comes out tomorrow. Damn it

 

I really wish the poster only had the "oh, hi mark" part. Excited for the trailer Though.

 

So is this back to being called "The Disaster Artist"? Cause for a minute there they changed it to "The Masterpiece".

 

Yes. And thank god because The Masterpiece was a whack title
