any one know what the retail variant of this is? was going to order off amazon to save on shipping but want that #red they have on their site
i saw amazon said the vinyl wasnt out until 10/19...soooo dunno if that means the bands store as well
I can’t wait to scream the guitar-less bridge of Smoking is Magic like the second verse of Zombie Eyed
Never heard the band before seeing them recommended on this site. I listened to the album this morning and it is fantastic. I hear a lot of power pop influence (e.g. The Replacements, The Cars, Cheap Trick) with a heavier rock edge.
Loving this record. This probably comes from a place of just not listening to enough straight up rock like this, but parts of it remind me a lot of White Reaper, who put out a top 10 record for me last year. I’ll likely be listening to this just as much — such a blast.
Pretty awesome to see these rad dudes finally getting more recognition. Been preaching the gospel of the Nil for awhile now!
I think Smoking is Magic is my fave non-single right now but it changes daily. The whole thing shreds. Definitely my favorite "driving with the windows down" album of the summer.
The Metallica cover is awesome! Also really hope the preorder comes soon and isn't slated for mid Oct that'd be a bummer Also recommend checking out the new PKEW PKEW PKEW song. They also just signed to Dine Alone. I imagine they will tour together at some point next year Would love to see Culture Abuse/ Nil / PKEW
Can’t say if the interview is any good or not since I haven’t listened, but Luke was on Lead Singer Syndrome today
It's a really good interview, actually. Shane and Luke are friends in the industry so Luke is pretty forthcoming about Dave leaving, where the band got their sound from (spoiler: it's the MC5 mostly, and all about the new album. Definitely recommend people give it a listen.
Yeah listening now, that podcast has had some really good interviews over the years. Shane's very friendly approach clearly makes singers very open. Would love him to interview LJG, Greg Barnett, Austin Getz, Mat Kerekes and a few more.
