Hmmmm. Artwork is dope. Song is mediocre. The last half more interesting than the first. Man I was head over heals for Dead Throne and Zombie. 8:18 had a couple of ok songs, and I everything after that didn't do anything for me. (Roots was fine as well). Mike's voice/vocal delivery really changed since Dead Throne and I just don't dig it anymore.
the entire record is pretty diverse - I mean it's still a metal record but it's not the same style 11 times
Here we go, Switchblade is already a ripper. Didn't expect those weird electronic touches and that switchup!
It's not as instant as their past few releases, but I'm into this a lot. They're expanding their sonic palette way more than I expected.
They mentioned Chelsea Wolfe as an influence in an interview that was posted in the other thread, and it's more noticeable on my second listen, especially with the slower songs. Isn't It Strange feels right out of Abyss.
Saw that it leaked, but I haven't listened yet. Excited to hear this judging from the reception on here.
alright just finished, yea this thing is wild. I absolutely love how off-kilter it is, they really go for it on here.
It's definitely a re-imagining of their sound. My personal favorite on first listen since WRAABB and it feels like their first solid progression since Dead Throne.
Well now that this is almost officially out, I've listened through 4 times now and I still love it. What a fantastic job by them, I love Transit Blues (and everything else) obviously but this really feels like a definitive album for them and where they're at now. That whole "IT'S MY FAULT" on Wave of Youth is so satisfying. So happy I had already gotten tickets for their tour with Norma Jean and Gideon.
I only got through Numb this morning but DAMN does this thing go in. The Thread is filthy good, an easy stand out for me so far.
