I'm listening to this bonus track before listening to the actual albums and it rips, even though it kind of reminds of when ADTR decide to randomly drop a heavy song, haha
Listened to this again and it still sucks hard IMO lol Nearly every damn song starts the same with Jeremy singing over some generic keyboard sounds with lyrics that mean nothing of substance but they rhyme so.. that’s the move I guess? LA writers for ya. I do love When You’re Gone though. I really wish the whole record was as good as that song.
one of the worst parts about this album is definitely that almost every song starts with stock fl studio synths and a jeremy only verse lol
"LA writers" sounds vague so I looked up the co-writers on the whole thing. A few of them are actually from the scene. One was LoveHateHero and Escape The Fate's former guitarist, another used to be in Dangerkids and now usually writes and produces for Falling In Reverse (*jazz music stops*), another is from Fit For A King. Colin Brittain has a writing credit as well. https://genius.com/artists/Myth https://genius.com/artists/Kevin-gruft https://genius.com/artists/Bobby-lynge https://genius.com/artists/L-spirit https://genius.com/artists/Kanner https://genius.com/artists/Kevin-mccombs https://genius.com/artists/Austin-coupe https://genius.com/artists/Lucky-west https://genius.com/artists/Dalton-diehl https://genius.com/artists/Oscar-neidhardt
I like this. Its catchy and fun. This has basically been their path since The Act. What did you expect? And guess what, both their last albums were mostly pretty damn good. My problem with Color Decay is that the slow songs specifically threw off the album flow for me. I don't think they worked well. (Broken, Twenty Five, Trapped, Fire, and Cancer). On Flowers everything works and flows well. The slower songs here are actually decent. The slower songs on The Act worked well too. So this might be better than Color Decay for me. Color Decay's highs are pretty high though. One complaint: I wish they didn't have the final breakdown in the title track. Unnecessary.
Strongly disagree. The Act and Color Decay might be more melodic than their earlier stuff, but to me they were also the best written material. The only thing that comes close on this one is When You're Gone.
Maybe if you consider Chemical to be the sound of The Act, which it’s not at all, but even that song is better/more interesting than the majority of this record. Color Decay has some clunkers (Broken is an immediate skip every time lol) but that still also has much more interesting things going on. When You’re Gone is the only track that makes good on their previous pop efforts.
I love when people ask “what did you expect?” I expected a good album, obviously. It’s not the stylistic shift people don’t like. It’s the fact it sucks
This last weekend I just saw 1500 zoomers tear the venue to pieces during an unreleased Loathe song that sounded like Car Bomb. wish they weren't so disinterested in releasing music bc they're living proof you don't have to make focus group Octane slop to connect with an audience
gave this a few spins last night and have kinda made peace with it a little i think. its kinda hard not to have a harsh first reaction to this one lol since aesthetically its just so far away from where ive ever wanted them to go, but once i recalibrated to the popcore standards theyre going for, its got more going on than i gave it credit like i as a reference point touched back on bring me the horizons albums thats the spirit onward and prefer this to all of them save maybe amo
My thoughts on this album are it's and not fully "For Me" but it seems like they nailed the sound/feel they were going for. Which is cool. A lot of bands that go for a huge switch-up do not stick the landing in terms of the target sound. More interestingly, I can't stop watching these videos of Mike fixing his house. Dude seems to chill and content and it's a vibe.
Yeah there's no bad songs on this. I like all of it. Its not THAT far away from their last 2 records. All 3 of the newer ones are far more melodic than their older ones. I don't need an album to make me think. I need to it to make me feel. This one makes me feel good.
The more I've listened to Flowers the more I like it. It's nowhere near my favorite from them, but for what it is and what they're trying to do, I think they've done a pretty good job.
this comment has perplexed me for days lmao what do you mean by ‘punch’ and how does this record not have it?
the production is pretty far from the problem here, this album sounds great also jesus christ i am addicted to the hidden track lmao. between that and the underoath demo my former christcore boys are tucking away the richest riches
Just think that the drums sounds pretty muddy, same for the guitars most of the time. I just played All Out and Watchtower back to back and the difference was night and day for me. I have specific timestamps where the drums really irks me if you're still perplexed. (Also english is not my first language so if my wording is unclear, that might be why)
It's tough because in this day & age, there are hundreds of albums battling for my attention at all times... and this one just doesn't meet my admittedly high standards, maybe? I don't mind the Octanecore style if it's competently done but in 2025, considering they're pursuing that path much later than their peers, "competently done" isn't enough for me. That's where I have to disagree with the comparison to BMTH. On the creative side, the latter remain in a league of their own, even if it took them a while to refine their sound after Sempiternal. Even if That's The Spirit and amo aren't the most consistent releases, I can tell they had a profound appreciation for pop and electronic music among others, and tried their best to infuse these influences into their sound without losing their edge. It helps that they have a knack for catchy melodies and hooks and have had collaborators by their side able to execute their wildest musical ideas production wise. I wish I got the same feeling when I put this on but everything is played way too safe instead. Jeremy's vocals being so unremarkable is another big downside here. I feel like he needs to step up his game if they intend on staying in that alt rock/metal lane.
i mostly think ive just aged out of bmth due to their egregiously bad lyricism on nearly every release, which is not really an issue with this album. it kinda tanks the whole band for me at this stage in my life
conversely, i don't listen to anything pre-Sempiternal. just not what i go to their music for (although the Albert Hall version of It Never Ends is fantastic)
