Seeing them for the first time in years next Friday. Looking at the setlists from the first part of the Metalcore Dropouts Tour and bummed they don't play any off Dead Throne. Hoping they change it up a bit for part 2.
Wasn't taking anything away from their new stuff. Dead Throne is my favorite and was just hoping to hear a song or two.
Yea not having anything from DT is a shame. Looking at the setlist, they could probably switch a CD song out for a DT song and that would be the best of both worlds, still 6 CD songs and at least having 1 DT song.
The era of Roots, Zombie, and Dead Throne is peak TDWP. I’m saying that as someone’s who still a fan of the newer material too.
I got into them when Zombie was announced and Dead Throne took that and amped it up for me. DT will always have a special place in my heart from that summer.
I’m far from a photographer, but I love accidentally catching moments like this when I do pull my phone out at shows.
Feels like Color Decay was just released. I will 100% take new TDWP though. Come to think of it, the timeline between ZII and Color Decay was relatively quick. I've liked the direction of that EP and LP since The Act kinda fell flat for me.
I love ZII but Color Decay has not aged that well with me over time. The only tracks I really love off of it are Exhibition (best track on the record IMO), Noise, Watchtower, and Hallucinate. The rest range from okay to meh/skip. I enjoy The Act but it’s very much something I need to be in the mood for lol I just hope they don’t go in the direction of Reaching and/or Ignorance. Those weren’t god awful tracks (just mid) but it was very radio-rock of them and I’m concerned they’re going to continue to go in that direction to gain more fans.
Definitely playing it safe and just further confirmation of the direction the band is going which is to reach wider audiences (which is understandable).. However I dig this more than some stuff off Color Decay like Broken, Reaching, and Ignorance. Those are truly some bland tracks so I’m not mad at this lol
I do like that the clean vocalist is using a little more grit, so it isn't so much Jekyll/Hyde in the two vocalists.
i really want to hear mike do some cleans, he feels like an afterthought in a lot of their newer melodic stuff
That was my first thought!! The chorus sounds so similar to this Anyway this is fine. The intro scared me because I'm so sick of that BMTH inspired Octane rock sound and that synth melody made me think this is what we were going to get, but the drum'n'bass vibe saves it.
