Agreed, if 'Color Decay' is where you've started then work backwards. I'd be surprised if you didn't at least also like 'The Act' and 'Transit Blues'.
I propose this. If you liked Color Decay, try then listening to Dead Throne. Then: -Did you like how heavy and fast-paced it was? Try the Zombie EP. -Did you yearn for more structure based/melodic sound? Try The Act.
I listened to Plagues, WRAABB, and Dead Throne recently. WRAABB is still by far their best material. Dead Throne is a great natural progression towards something more mature. Plagues isn't bad. Hey John, Reptar, and Nickelz still go hard.
Thanks very much for your suggestions guys. I had a quick listen through of Plagues and can someone just confirm that the two singers (Mike on screams and Jeremy on cleans) are literally the same throughout all of the albums? It seems that way looking at the lineups on Wiki but they both sound literally so different I can't believe it's the same!!
Yeah I think this is the answer. Dead Throne was the last album of theirs I was into, and they lost me with Transit Blues and The Act, then I got really into Color Decay. I gave the previous two a chance again, and they just aren't for me. The clean vocals, catchy choruses, and big, slick sounding production that connects Dead Throne and Color Decay are what I want from this band.
all this talk of everything before Dead Throne and after Transit Blues, but nobody mentions how fantastic that breakdown in Gloom off of 8:18 is. some great fucking high points on that album, imo.
8:18 is a tough one for me. Easily their most inconsistent, some of their best tracks like Gloom, Martyrs, and Sailors Prayer, but then also some pretty weak stuff too
yeah, it's far from perfect, but i definitely think the high points are some of their best too. wish people talked about those more.
Probably some nostalgia involved because I followed the band through each studio update and announcement for the album, but it’s my favorite. Definitely the first album where they were mature as a band.
Hate remixes 98% of the time and live tracks are boring lol I’m interested to hear the two b-sides though!
just hoping my copy comes in good condition. ordered ZII directly from them and it was pretty bowled. it can still play fine with a stabilizing weight, but it's not ideal. God forbid it happens with this release.
