i can see why the band don't like the first 2 records so much. they really are just riff salad without much structure or songwriting really going on, but some songs do be hitting on them tho
Yeah I just did kind of a perusal of Dear Love and my goodness there was like no lyrics for any of those songs. They just repeated the same lines multiple times to make it longer
haven't checked in with these guys since dead throne so i got pretty surprised by the sound on this thing... regardless... it's dope
After some repeated listens I’m definitely still digging this but I kinda wish it was a little less polished
This has become a multi-listen a day for me. It's so good. Top Tier: Exhibition Watchtower Time Noise Sacrifice Mid Tier: Salt Broken Hallucinate Low Tier: Cancer Fire Trapped Twenty-Five 8/10 from me, and definitely a top-10 for my 2022 Albums list.
The last minute of Noise is by far my favorite thing they have ever done. Mike's vocals are otherworldly.
My favorites are the fast aggressive ones, specifically Time, Noise, Watchtower, Sacrifice, Exhibition, and all the midtempo ones except for Trapped are mid. Anyone said Trapped has a La Dispute/Touche Amore vibe yet?
Replay value on these songs have been crazy for me. Sacrifice stills feels fresh and I've been listening to that well over a year now. I don't think i've witnessed another band get such a strong "second wind" this far into their careers. The "new" members really breathed a lot of fresh air into their songwriting and overall approach. Everything since Space Ep to now has been much stronger than their prior work imo.
I give an immense amount of credit to Jon for the band’s revival. Respect to Jeremy and Mike for not being egotistical and allowing Jon to take the reins. It’s paid off in a big way.
This is a really good album and Noise is by far my favorite song. That opening riff when it kicks in is so groovy and chunky, i love it. I know they released a lot of singles, but this one is lagging on spotify plays so hopefully I'm not alone. Excited to catch them on the ABR tour just announced and I hope they play Noise.
Listened to this band for the first time recently starting with Color Decay and absolutely love it. Can anyone give me recommendations of what albums to go to next?
Absolutely work backwards. Their sound has changed quite a bit in my opinion but gradually. Going backwards will help those older albums make more sense lol
