Where/when did they confirm that? When I spoke with Mike a week or so ago for the podcast he didn't mention it when I asked, but when I asked about any other concepts away from 'Zombie' and 'Space' he implied there might be something but couldn't say anything about it.
Yeah I was trying to find that as well after I said that but couldn't find it. I thought I heard it from Lead Singer Syndrome podcast. Shane does a weekly "Albums You Should Check Out" with another dude and I could've sworn several months/maybe a year ago there was something they mentioned about Space 2 being talked about. I could very well be mistaken but that was my recollection
Just relistened to that episode and I was correct, Shane Told specifically said he knew there was talk of doing a Space 2. So while not necessarily confirmation seems like a pretty good indicator. apologize for saying it was confirmation, my mistake.
I think sometime around when Z2 came out, they mentioned if the demand was there for space 2/ if they felt inspired enough to create it, they would. My bet is they have another new concept coming up in a couple years followed by a space 2 around the 10/11 year annoversary of the ep (so 2025/2026 for it)
Regretting not getting one of the cooler vinyl variants. I’ll probably try and snag the indie variant though.
On first listen, I've skipped the main singles that were released and it overall felt kinda "slow" to me? Lots of slow songs here. Not bad, but not what I expected after hearing about how heavy this album was. I hope it clicks with me after a few more listens and I'm thinking the singles will help to bring it up. Exhibition is amazing. Great opener.
Classic case of overplaying the singles, but they’re slowly integrating with the album for me. I’m feeling those Dead Throne vibes in the urgency of the fast songs on this album and I love it. Dead Throne is my favorite TDWP album and even then there’s some songs I don’t dig as much, so I really can’t complain with this effort. I really need to revisit The Act because I felt like it sounded all too similar, and it deserves a second chance. This new stage from ZII and beyond is so great. Wish I had gotten to see them on the most recent tour. Come back early 2023 please.
This'll be a rough ranking just based on my time with the band: With Roots Color Decay Transit Blues The Act 8:18 Dead Throne Plagues Dear Love
Honestly? Color Decay Dead Throne Roots The Act Transit Blues 8:18 Plagues Dear Love Maybe I’m still in the honeymoon phase with Color Decay but as a whole record? It feels the strongest. Also for the EPs it’s: ZII Space Zombie
I revisited Dear Love and Plagues the other day and I enjoyed them more than I remembered. I mainly got into this band just because I really liked Jeremy's parts but I wasn't a huge fan of screaming at the time. I think there's a lot of cool stuff on those albums and I still fucking love any moment where there's clean vocals. I still think there's a lot of stuff that kinda holds them back from being great though. I've not really checked anything in between those and this out properly but I'm planning to move through them at some point and hopefully there's a project in there somewhere where the music/screams progress to something more consistent but they don't lose the great clean sections.
For me Jeremy has been the weak part, up until he stopped singing so high. Love him on the latest records. I remember them talking about it in their podcast some years back. That he used to sing in a key that wasn't really comfortable for him, or something like that.
I could see that, it seemed like the 2000s christian metalcore scene was all about breakdowns and whose clean singer could hit the highest note.
He never really went that high though, just had a super great tone. Some bands definitely just tried to go as high as possible and it sounded like shit.
